Poor QualityStrengths: It's pretty to look at Weakness: Not reliable. Does not have good customer service either. On the outside, this is a beautiful machine. Unfortunately, the mechanics don't match. 6 months after my wife and I purchased it, the hinge on the back cover broke. I contacted Delonghi to see if it was covered under the warranty. Of course it was not and I had to purchase a new one. Then, after having it for just over a year, the coffee maker quit completely. I had to take it to one of their authorized repair facilities to get it fixed. I have been without the coffee maker for 7 weeks now and they still don't know when they will get the parts from Delonghi. I do not drink coffee and my wife drinks maybe 1/2 cup a day. My wife owned a Mr. Coffee that lasted more than 10 years. You would think that with the price of this machine it would have lasted much longer. Delonghi Cafe Nero BC2648B Coffee Maker& Espresso...Strengths: Makes good expresso with the space saving convenience of one compact machine Weakness: Takes forever to warm up and takes twice to three times the amount of time as a normal percolator to make drip coffee. Disappointed in the amount of time it takes to make 10 cups in the percolator. Also disappointed that it only makes 10 cups instead of 12. I am concerned about the overall durability. Strengths: Automatic start-up timer Does work and every day to have your drip coffee ready in the morning.
Weakness: Delonghi warranty,even the extended plan. The expresso machine works for two cups then starts to get too hot and you start to lose quality of the expresso. Drip basket & water lid need help.
I purchased this from small appliance .com October 2004, I need a new drip basket, new water lid already. I use the automatic start up drip coffee maker every day and it works, but I need a new drip basket. If you are a espresso lover and want to make more than 4 cups at a time, this is not for you. Delonghi's warranty even their two year extended service plan cover very little. You have to send the product in, there is no exchange policy, so you are without your appliance. You have to pay for you parts up front even if they are on back order.
