Hitachi Deskstar 7K250 HDS722512VLAT20 120 GB...Strengths: Quiet. Very Fast. 3 Year Warranty. Weakness: None. I bought an Hitachi HD several months ago (that was a 160 GB drive). We (my family and I) initially didn't think we needed a new HD for our other computer. The Hitachi performed so well on our "new" computer, that we changed our mind and ordered an Hitachi 120 GB for our "old" computer. It was a proverbial "fountain of youth" for the old computer. Now the old computer is very functional again. The first HD we received didn't work right out of the box. That can happen to ANY HD brand and I didn't lose sleep over it. Hitachi and the place where we purchased it from (NewEgg) were great! They helped us out, we received the new drive and it works great just like our other Hitachi does. You might say "Well you got a bad one at first so you can't rate the product 5 stars." To THAT I would again say that can happen with ANY brand. The fact that the new one works so well, and the great service we had makes it all the more reasonable to rate this a 5 star add-on. Hope this helps. 100% of readers found this review helpful. Strengths: Stable while it works
Weakness: Poor warranty service. Bad customer service commnunication and not honoring warranty as they should.
I had my drive shipped after 1.5 years it stopped working, Hitachi has given me a lot of grief honoring warranty taking weeks to response when I complained they ingeniously found ways to get out of honoring the warranty.
