XRS 9930 GREAT RADAR DETECTORStrengths: VOICE ALERT/SMARTPOWER Weakness: SMALL SCREEN THIS DETECTOR IS LOADED WITH FEATURES. THE VOICE ALERT IS MUCH BETTER THAN THE BEEPING FROM PREVIOUS OWNED DETECTORS. THE AUTO OFF FEATURE IS A PLUS. IT DISPLAYS BATTERY POWER AT ALL TIMES.THE 4 DIFFERENT COLORS AND THE DIM AND BRIGHT IS GREAT.YOU HAVE CONTROL OVER ALL SIGNALS IF YOU WANT ON OR OFF.THE MANUEL AND QUICK SETUP SHEET IS REALLY GREAT.THIS UNIT IS SIMPLE TO SETUP WITH THE QUICK SETUP SHEET.THE FEATURES ARE GREAT FOR THE PRICE. 100% of readers found this review helpful. Good productStrengths: So far it seems to not give too many false alerts. Compass is cool. Readout is also very cool Weakness: Short cord. I have owned Escorts in the past. I still have them acually, but one of them is starting to break apart. This Cobra seems to be pretty comparable. For the money differance, you could buy two of these for the price of one Escort. I would recommend this model to friends. 95% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

5 thumbs upStrengths: detects and protects... first day i installed into my car i noticed a lot of police shooting radar a couple in un marked cars...this is a must get for all drivers. Weakness: does everything i need it to do... evan though a a police scanner would be nice and a alert when police are around evan if there not running radar this is a must buy like i stated before. it looks very cool..it has nice color display..and it does the job... great investment id love to see what cobra comes out with next... 95% of readers found this review helpful. Excellent Product from Cobra (XRS 9930)Strengths: Its detection range is pretty impressive and very strong. Easy to use and to caliber the compass is also easy. Good looking Color display tops all after it detection strength. Good sturdy looks. Weakness: the power cord isn't long enough to run from my car cigarette lighter to the windshield which causes the detector to snap off. Pretty good detector and a must for young drivers who are late to work cause we usually drive fast.. ;). This saved me at the first day of use itself, But of-course it goes without saying exercise caution as always and slow down when to get the beeps & voice commands. The information you get from this device are your battery strength, direction (compass), drive mode (highway/city), multi color display LCD for different outputs. i just love it. 80% of readers found this review helpful. Overall a great detector!!!Strengths: The LCD screen is nice and bright! Great features! Weakness: it would be nice if the voice was that of a women instead of a man. A bit bulky too! This is the second radar detector I have owned. This one is by far better. I used to own a whistler it was smaller thats about the only thing I like about that radar detector. 57% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

great product color looks good.Strengths: Excellent Range. Compass Navigation. Ability to disable "X" detection as well as any other bands you do not want it to scan for. Clear display and very configurable/customizable. Weakness: A little larger product. From my owning the detector, I feel that this detector may protect you 40% of the time. 40% is too much of a risk to take. The other 60% of alerts are false alerts. 33% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Cobra 9930 ReviewStrengths: It's very user friendly and easy to make or change any settings. Weakness: It's a bit bulky and has alot of false alarms I depend on it to alert me of emergency vehicles along with it's main feature of helping not get speeding tickets. I don't speed alot but it is nice to know you are protected if you do. I would recommend it to anyone thinking about buying it. It's a great value. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

It just works!!!Strengths: Fewer false alarms; compass and battery meter are nice features; voice alert and graphical display are nice Weakness: Large and bulky; suction cups and bracket are flimsy; coiled cord is too short I purchased a Bel v940 a couple of weeks ago because of all the reviews I read on it. For some, that radar detector might work well, but I live in Houston, TX and it was going off constantly with no cops around. I took it back after having it for a week and decided to go with the Cobra XRS9930. I have an older Cobra in my other vehicle and it always worked fine. The XRS9930 is an improvement on the older model. I have been getting far fewer false alarms and the graphical display looks great! The compass was easy to calibrate and the Intellimute senses my engine's RPMs and does a good job of muting alerts while I am driving in grocery store parking lots (where my older radar detector frequently goes off). I saved $40 by returning the Bel and going with the Cobra, and I am very glad that I did. I would highly recommend this product to anyone living in Houston and has a lead foot! XRS 9930Strengths: Voice alerts are loud enough to be heard over the Bose system. Excellent sensitivity. It has already "saved" me 3 times in the last month. Weakness: The compass must be recalibrated each time it is used in a new vehicle. Although I miss the cordless feature of the battery powered Escorts, the sensitivity and very audible alert system make up for this. Considering this unit cost half of my last Escort (which was falling apart - cracked case, diminishing audio alerts & I had to repair the power switch after about 4 months), I am very impressed so far. XRS 9930 Radar DetectorStrengths: auto-mute, intellimute, car battery monitor, all radar and laser bands monitored, compass Weakness: a little bulky, silver buttons reflect in the windshield This is the top of the line COBRA radar detector, I like it a lot. Automute can be programmed to ignore not only X, but K band as well. Intellimute senses your engine RPNs, and if they are below a programmed number, the unit does not make any sounds - good if you are stopped at the light or travel below 55mph. The unit senses if the car is turned off and if a cigarette lighter plug is always on, it turns off after 10-15 minutes to save car battery. Compass feature is nice too, just make sure to re-calibrate if if you move radar detector between cars Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Good Gadget!
Strengths: Chock full of features
Weakness: Screen could be a tad larger & comes with a short power cord.
Nice unit, very stealth looking, with a colorful, mini computer type screen & enough user settings to keep you occupied before you get rolling. Some include; 12 band detection, with audible alert (female voice or tone alert), signal strength, auto mute (senses low engine RPM's, knows when you're at low speed & automatically mutes alerts) , visual alert, display dimmer/screensaver, compass, customizable display colors, a safety alert traffic warning system that alerts you to the presence of all kinds of emergency vehicles including fire trucks, ambulances, trains, strobes, etc (the e vehicle transmiters are in limited numbers right now, but growing). It even has 2 detector-detectors bands, to alert you if a detection device is in use near you vehicle. Then there's a smart power mode (standby), also a car battery voltage icon with an ongoing constant, visual readout that monitors your vehicle battery voltage & provides an audible warning if your voltage is low. Did I mention it also has an auxiliary audio jack? I may have missed some of the features, but you get the point. It also comes with a 1 year warranty, & using my credit card for the purchase, doubles that. Haven't done enough miles yet to test them all yet, but so far, so good. As complex as it sounds, it's easy to set up. I would however recommend that you stray from the factory default settings & manually configure it, for the "full effect." After all of that, it's probably not the best one out there, but definitely a nice gadget & a very good value in my opinion.
