Keep Your iPod Hidden From Curious Eyes

Strengths: Allows iPod to remain out of sight Operate iPod with the head unit's controls Connects iPod directly to car's stereo system (no FM transmitter)

Weakness: Only utilizes 8 characters on head unit's display

I finally jumped on the bandwagon and joined 90% of the world's population (I'm pretty sure that even remote villages in South America have been infiltrated by them) and purchased an iPod. My primary intention was to use it through my truck's stereo system. I had dabbled with FM transmitters in the past and, although more recent technology may be vastly improved, I was never impressed with the sound quality. I decided to purchase the CD-IB100II to use with my Pioneer head unit so that I could directly connect my iPod to the stereo, eliminating the need for an FM transmitter. The sound quality is great and I can utilize my head unit's controls to operate the iPod (i.e. advance tracks / playlists). In addition, this unit charges the iPod while in use, so battery life is not an issue. I have the iPod cable running into my glove box so there is absolutely no evidence of its existence in my truck to anybody looking in. This is important to me because I've had my window broken more than enough times to learn my lesson. The only complaint that I have about this unit is that it uses only 8 characters on the head unit's display and it DOES NOT SCROLL. This is a most curious drawback to me, as it doesn't seem like advanced technology to fully utilize the display, allowing the track title and artist to be simultaneously shown. However, I had a very similar problem with Pioneer's Sirius tuner (SIR-PNR1), although the display would at least scroll through the entire song title, artist, etc. This is a very irritating drawback of the CD-IB100II, but the benefits are greater and I am satisfied with the unit overall. Provided you are aware of the display limitation, I would definitely recommend it. And, if you ever find yourself in the jungles of South America, you'll can easily share your music with the natives.

Easy Ipod Integration

Strengths: Easily integrates the ipod.

Weakness: Slow scrolling and distracting.

The device lets you hook up your Ipod and scroll through the menus on the Pioneer head unit as though your scrolling the Ipod. The problem is that it is slow and after you scroll through a part of list, there is a delay as it refreshes. It can become distracting and you can't really change songs/artist/albums/etc. while driving.

Use your iPod through your Pioneer HU the best way...

Strengths: Controllable through Pioneer Head Units. As a result, the Ipod can be hidden away. The CD-iB100ii also charges your iPod whenever it is plugged in.

Weakness: Cannot jump directly to a track. You must scroll through all of your songs to find the one you wish to play.

I have a Pioneer DEH-7800MP head unit. It was designed with the iPod in mind. Therefore, the unit WILL scroll through the entire name of the song I'm playing; and I have some lengthy song names. Other Pioneer models will only display a certain amount of characters from the song title because they treat the CD-iB100ii as an external device. The 7800, does not treat it as an external device. If you'd like to know how your head unit will treat the device, read the CD-ib100ii's manual; it has a list of those that treat it as an external.

The clarity of the songs are CD quality. This is by far the best option of all the car/iPod interfaces.

The only real weakness I see with this device is that it doesn't let my HU go directly to a track. The remote control on my HU allows me to type in a track number for MP3 discs and regular CDs. It then goes to that track. I can't do that with the iPod. I have to scroll through all my songs. I have 2642 songs on the iPod; so scrolling through them all is very time consuming. I strongly advise to anyone purchasing this unit to learn how to make the iPod Playlists on your iTunes so that you won't have to scroll for half an hour for a single song.

If you're going to spend money on upgrading your head unit and are wanting the iPod hooked up to it, pick this device. It is well worth the money. I stopped using my old CDs and have no need for a CD Changer.

Pioneer CDIB100II Review

Strengths: Well priced and well built. Good sound quality.

Weakness: Unit requires power hook-ups. Can't control unit via ipod.

Overall I am very pleased with this unit. For the price, it seems to be the best option for connecting your ipod to your Pioneer system. I also do like that fact that it connects through the ipod docking connector rather than the headphone output. Better audio that way. Overall I haven't experienced any of the problems I have read in some of the other reviews. Performance is good. I do wish that I could control things from the ipod however and this seems to be the only downside of the unit outside of having to provide power hook-ups to the unit (but this is a minor nit).

Works great

Strengths: Does what it claims, ipod control works pretty well.

Weakness: Wish power came through the data cable instead of more connections.

This works well once it's hooked up, however you will have to provide power and ground hook up (not just the data cable), so a couple more connections than what it looks like.

HELLO WHAT ABOUT VIDEO?

Strengths: REASONABLY PRICED

Weakness: CAN NOT VIEW ANY VIDEO FROM THE IPOD TO THE PIONEER MONITOR AT ALL.

I HAVE THE PIONEER 5700 WITH THE FLIP UP MONITOR, AND THE 30GB WITH VIDEO IPOD AND THE ADAPTER DOES NOT HAVE VISUAL CAPABILITIES TO ALL YOUR MEDIA YOU MAY HAVE ON THE IPOD. PICTURES AND VIDEO TO BE EXACT.

Great iPod Adapter

Strengths: Uses the iPod's dock connector to directly connect to your Head Unit, clarity and sound, and charges the iPod

Weakness: slow navigation of music using the Pioneer Z1

I bought this adapter for my Pioneer AVIC Z1, and the sound is GREAT.

It uses the iPods dock connector which outputs the best signal, and therefore sounds great.

The only downside to this adapter is that it scrolls 5 artists at a time, and takes like 3 - 5 seconds to scroll to the next 5.

As far as I can see, this is the only downside to this adapter.

I wish there would be a way to use this adapter but control everything from the iPod itself, since I have my iPod mounted right beside the Z1.

Overall, I think this is a great adapter but it could've been better if the scrolling feature wouldn't be so slow. For the price I paid, I'm satisfied.

iPod to Pioneer Car Stereo Adapter

Strengths: Keeps iPod hidden and charged up. Sound quality is great.

Weakness: Display is mediocre. More cables and wires.

These adapters are deeply discounted on eBay. My guess is that they are being phased out for stereos with intergrated adapters. First thing I noticed after installing the adapter and iPod is that my mp3s don't skip like the mediocre CDRs do. I would recommend this adapter to anyone that has a firm riding car or truck and listens to mp3s.

Pioneer CD-iB100ii Ipod Control Interface

Strengths: A great piece of Kit. Very impressed with its performance

Weakness: None

I went for the MkII version of this interface because of reviews of the previous version and coupled it with my Bluetooth Pioneer headunit. It surpassed my expectations with its usability, and sound quality. On my head unit I the whole title and and artisit although it scrolls. PLaylists are easily navigated and accessed. Previously I had a Blaupunkt head unit and interface which performed very poorly indeed. This Pioneer interface is great especially with my DEH-P75BT head unit!!
