Pretty Good

Strengths: Easy to install. Works with Logitech wireless devices. Easy to switch to Ctrl-key hot key.

Weakness: Price.

After reading all the negative reviews about using IOGear KVMs with Logitech wireless devices, and the problems with IOGear's "tech" support, I was very hesitant to even waste my time with this one, even though the large chain store manager assured me that I could return it if it didn't work right with my Logitech wireless mouse & keyboard.

I have to compliment IOGear. The box is too small to really "install" anywhere, but I just need to tap my Ctrl key twice to switch computers, so the box is out of sight. It works - that's the important part. Tap the key and I'm looking at my laptop. Two more taps and I'm looking at my desktop.

The mouse wheel and buttons work the same as they did before. So do all the things on the keyboard - speaker switch, volume control, scroll wheel.

I wish I could have gotten this in a 4-port unit, but no one seems to carry them in brick and mortar stores, and I needed something to work now.

As far as KVMs switching at their own will - I switch back and forth constantly and, aside from the 1-2 second delay in switching, it does what I tell it to do and nothing else.

Next week we'll see how it works with Linux.

I've used the expensive ones - I see no difference from my viewpoint at the the keyboard with this one. It's nice to buy something that just works.

There is a 4-port version of GCS632U, the part number is GCS634U. It is available in most of the on line retailers.

Here is the link to the buy.com page for GCS634U: http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=202458971&loc=101&sp=1

Also, please notice that the 4-port has two built in cables and two detached cables. We found out most people buy 4-port KVMs do not have 4 computers now, rather they are considering expansion in the future. Having two detached cables allows less cables on the desk for people have less than 4 computers now, but still allow them to add one or two down the road.

i could not get my expensive logitech wireless mouse and keyboard to work with this model product. Is there anything you could think of that I could do to get it to switch for me.
thank you

The USB KVM for those new desktops and laptops

Strengths: Easy to setup. Keyboard switching. Great for new laptop with only USB ports.

Weakness: none

I use this to control 2 desktops. The switching is using hot keys from the keyboard. The video is sharp but you will definitey notice a difference if one of the PC has a older video card. It does not work with PS2 keyboard using a PS2 to USB keyboard adapter, but I didn't really expected it to work either.

Gets the job done

Strengths: No extra cables to buy, no external power needed, no directions needed.

Weakness: Occasionally I have to re-sync my display settings on my Mac so that it reads all of the resolutions of my monitor.

This has been a great switch that I have been using for around 3 years now. I also have the PS2 version which also works great. I use it with an Intel Mac Mini and a Dell and have little to know issues. I used to have a G3 iMac and had some issues of having to unplug all of it it to get the switch to respond to switching. That was fixed when I got the Mini. All and All I have had little to know issues. It is an affordable easy to use product for the average user.

Not Bad Not Good

Strengths: Cables included. USB support

Weakness: No external power.

Had problems powering my saitek gamers keyboard and MX518 mouse. I was really hoping that it would of worked with those items but ended up having to return it to the store. Other people I know have had much sucess with this KVM though.

IOGEAR MiniView Micro USB Plus 2-Port KVM Switch

Strengths: Simple and cool! Very inexpensive. Rugged. Even includes 6 foot cables. Also shares audio.

I set this up in just a couple of minutes so I could run my PC desktop and Mac that I travel with. I like being able to connect audio as well.

Great inexpensive KVM Switch for Mac & PC

Strengths: * No problems connecting powermac running os x and dell laptop running windows xp * setup was easy and straightforward * switching between two computers is easy and seamless

Weakness: * keyboard and mouse must be connected to switch - cannot connect mouse to usb hub on keyboard * sound is limited to 2 speaker system (no 2.1)

This is a great product overall. Though I would have liked to be able to connect my mouse via the usb hub on my keyboard, the usb ports on the keyboard ARE still usable so it's not a total waste. I've been using it to connect my Mac (desktop) and Dell laptop (via docking station) and have had no problems with it. I am running Mac OS 10.3.6 and Windows XP.

Buyer beware

Strengths: Small, simple

Weakness: Does not work with Apple VGA monitors.

Iogear supports writes
"There is a non-standard sync signal the Apple Studio Display requires."
This is horses**t since the display works fine with every computer with a VGA connection.

great product at the right price

Strengths: easy to set up, inexpensive

Weakness: vedio is as good as advertised

I bought this product at $40 after $10 MIR. For the price, the product is great: easy to set up, no software installation is needed, plug-and-play. I connected to my computers, and both works great.

The only complain I have is that the vedio quality is a little worse than the direct connection. My screen resulution is 1280x1024.

Overall, it is a great product

Not for gamers

Strengths: Ease of use. Price reasonable.

Weakness: Not for high end gaming keyboard.

G11 logitech (one of the better gaming keyboards) looses power. Confirm connections, just seems to drop keyboard function. Perhaps keyboard needs more power than can be supplied through KVM.

It works.....

Strengths: built in cables, USB support.

Weakness: there is a slight shimmer when running this on my laptop at some resolutions and freq's. I have not tested the sound, but heard that it is horrific.

This works perfectly on my setup, even with a logictech LX-710 wireless keyboard / mouse combo. The trick I found is that the mouse's scroll wheel has a right/left motion, in addition to the up/down scroll motion. This right/left motion emulated scroll-lock...so... two slow right-motion clicks with the wheel, it flips screen. I don't have to mess around with the CTRL key, which would mess me up. I use CTRL for gaming.

I would definately recommend this to anybody.

Mouse click is not accurate

Strengths: Automatically detects, Video resolution is good

Weakness: Single click on the mouse sends double click. It is very annoying.

Just selecting a file trying to open it. Inside the IDE, I am not able to place the cursor in a particular position using the mouse and it always selects the entire line. It is very annoying and I never buy it again. If you are writing lot of coding then it will waste your time.

IOGEAR KVM 2 Port Switch #GCS632U

Strengths: Just about EVERYTHING..... Works almost perfect, very easy to use. I'm very Satisfied with it!!! I've been using it for about 3 weeks now and have it hooked up to a PC and a Mac Mini.

Weakness: Sometimes after starting both computers and switch to my Mac, the screen res. is 800*600 istead of the 1280*960 I have it set at. I just mouse click on Detect Display and the problem is solved.

I'm really Happy with this product!!! Very easy to use and it has Audio support. No problems using different types of computers (Mac/PC etc.) Buy it online, because I got it for 38% ($28.00) cheaper online than I could of purchased locally.

The weakness or problem I mentioned, really is nothing, I really don't think it's a problem with the KVM Switch. I think it is either a problem with my Mac Mini or it could be that I have different Screen Resolutions set on the 2 computers.

It doesn't happen with my PC only my Mac and even than it only happens sometimes, maybe 2 out of 8 times. It only happens the first time I switch to my Mac after (startup), not when I've had both machines on and have switched back and forth serveral times. It's just one mouse click to have the Mac switch to the Screen Res. I have it set for automatically.

I Really recommand this product. I'm completely satisified with it!!!

Great Value at Amazon.com for $44.95

Easy hot key switch

Strengths: Hot key switch, by keyboard Easy installation with long enought cable.

Weakness: Sometimes need a reboot to resume function.

This is a good KVM in that I do not have to touch any botton on the KVM, but instead, I only need to double click scroll lock to switch between machines, and it works nicely with my IBM workstation and Dell GX620. Sometimes it stop working and I need a reboot (unplug all stuffs and replug in:()
