Reviews for Sabrent Stand Alone TV Tuner Box with Picture in Picture (PiP) for LCD/CRT/TFT and Plasma Monit Stand Alone TV Tuner Box with Picture in Picture (PiP) for LCD/CRT/TFT and Plasma Monit
Strengths: Can use a VGA monitor as a TV.
A computer isn't required.
Picture quality (brightness, contrast, etc.) can be changed using the remote.
Weakness: Many (see below)
User's Manual seems to have been translated from Chinese and is pretty basic, no hookup diagrams were included.
Problems with the box:
Auto Frequency Scan found all analog cable channels, but gave them numbers different from what the cable company says they should be.
The channel selector only goes from 0 to 70, so channels higher than 70 are given lower numbers.
The on-screen menu only gives about two seconds to make a selection before closing itself.
Sleep function (auto shut-off) doesn't work for me.
The MMI socket is inconveniently located on the side of the box.
RCA connectors on MMI cable aren't identified.
Problems with the remote:
Preview button on the remote is mislabeled as Power.
Remote's PIP button doesn't do anything, it may work when connected to a computer.
All buttons are round and similarly sized.
No batteries were included.
Channels selection is fine when I set the box to channel 2 and use my VCR's tuner and remote. But I still have to use the box's remote to control the volume.
