A great enclosure with new features

Strengths: Smart power. USB Hub.

Weakness: Noisy fan, when it is on.

PROS:
-Smart power: switches on/off with PC automatically.
-USB Hub: 3 ports (also smart powered)
-Nice looking enclosure, and no funky lighting
-Drive remains cool with passive heat sink, and automatic fan (enclosure comes with temp probe).
-Excellent vibration dampening.

CONS:
Fan produces a bit of a whining noise, even at lower speeds. But it is minimal, and the drive remains cool enough for the fan to NEVER need to kick in at high speed, just on low every once in a while.
The noise wasn't bothersome enough for me to want to return and try and see if it was just the unit that I got that was "defective".

Perfect Product with some help from the USER

Strengths: Compact, attractive, and solid design. The USB hub is excellent for devices that really don't need USB 2.0.....ex. Keyboard, Mouse, USB click drives, media readers, etc.

Weakness: Very tight fit which allows very little room for the cooling fan. It can cause the fan to make noise when lid is installed. With a little USER tweaking that can be corrected.

This product is great for individual that uses their notebook as a desktop replacement. Extra storage and USB for your additional devices in one unit. This makes it so much easier for travel too. One less device to worry about TSA having to inspect, not to mention taking up space in your bag. It allows me to reserve my other USB ports in my desktop or notebook for devices that really require USB 2.0....ex. More hard drives! I own 2 other models of Nexstar hard drive enclosures (Nexstar 3 & Nexstar LX) and they are solid. I also own Vantec power supplies. My experience over the many years that I have used Vantec products is that they really do offer quality products. Blah Blah Blah. I have babbled enough..buy one!
