Netgear ProSafe FWG114P Wireless VPN Firewall Router...Strengths: Couldn't tell you about it's strengths. Haven't gotten one that works with my computer yet. Weakness: The printer server doesn't work with my computer Have been sent three units so far from netgear and have yet to get one that will work with my computer. There techs suck cause they can't speak english. Was told that there highest rated tech was working on the problem and i would receive a phone call from them with in 24 hours. That was over a month ago. Repeated e-mail have gone unanswered. And the phone calls go as far as talking to someone, then a transfer and then a disconnect. They suck!!!!!! 41% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

FWG114P 802.11G WIRELESS PROSAFE FIREWALL ROUTERStrengths: Aluminum case, good range, 4-port switch, USB printer port, works at VDSL II speeds (100 MBit up, 100 MBit down) Weakness: Many printers do not work, or require constant resets Korea is on of the few countries with VDSL II high speed internet connections. None of the Linksys or D-Link routers would connect and synchronize at these high speeds; they did work okay at regular A 0% of readers found this review helpful. Netgear FWG114PStrengths: Reliable, fast, excellent range. Weakness: USB Print Server, but not what I got it for. I bought this unit (first gen) approx 4 years ago it has not let me down. Although higher priced than the consumer units, I find the reliability and range is worth the additional cost over the low end, high volume, mass market, consumer units. A colleague was having a lot of trouble with a competitive product, which I recommended a similar NG Pro router and all the problems disappeared. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Horrible EquipmentStrengths: Looks nice. Weakness: Won't run for 24 hours straight - Unreliable. Horrible support. Mine started hanging every day, sometimes more. I got a brand new one to replace mine and it does the same thing. Tech support doesn't even know there's a problem with this model and they know absolutely nothing about networking. Search the Web for "FWG114P" and "hangs" if you don't believe me! I used to like Netgear stuff until I bought this sorry excuse for a router. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Netgear ProSafe FWG114P Wireless VPN Firewall Router...
Strengths: Very complete product. All the functionality you would want for a home office, especially: VPN client support USB print server .11g Wi-Fi 4-port switch Auto-sensing uplink port
Weakness: Could use a more thoroughly-tested USB printer compatibility list. With such a feature I would expect Netgear to have a well-established IHV program.
Netgear 1, Linksys 0. Netgear gets it right with a complete feature set, value, and reliability. Linksys may have the Cisco brand, but it has the reliability of an American car--hardly acceptable. My worst Windows PC wouldn't fail that often.
The Netgear box, it's very easy to set up, and it's a bargain as compared to my old Linksys WRT54G, whose wireless access would crap out--regularly. We're talking 2-3 times per 4 hour session. That's unacceptable. The Netgear box has yet to drop connectivity on 10 days. Networking, be it wired or wireless, is all about constant availability. The Netgear is rock-solid reliable. I cannot pay it a higher compliment.
