Terrific amateur SLR camera for a $450 price tagStrengths: Bright 2.5 inch LCD Supersonic dust removal Large 4/3 CCD image sensor 8-megapixel imager Weakness: LCD can't preview image Small viewfinder The Evolt500 has an extensive list of useful features, including a 8-megapixel imager, a bright 2.5 inch LCD, automatic dust removal upon start, great auto-focus ability, and 15 preset scene modes. From my experience, the 18-180mm lens is better and more convenient than the 15-45mm, 40-150mm 2 lenses kit. The external FL-36 Flash is very helpful for indoors shooting. 75% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Olympus E500
Overall, I can only conclude that with the E-500 Olympus has introduced a very strong product. For its price-range, it offers the user a remarkable amount of options: plenty of special functions, fantastic image quality and an ergonomically very well thought out design. Top

Camera Labs – Olympus EVOLT E-500 review
The Olympus E-500 is a mixed bag with plenty of things going for it, but equally a number of aspects which could be considered deal-breakers by some photographers. Highlights of course include the SSWF anti-dust system, an impressively high level of information and control for a budget body, very good overall image quality and an affordable twin lens bundle which will cover most eventualities. DCRP Review: Olympus EVOLT E-500
The Olympus EVOLT E-500 offers many improvements over its predecessor (the E-300) with photo quality and design being the most notable. One thing hasn't changed though, and that's the fact that the E-500 is an excellent value. Priced at just $699 (body only), $799 (one lens kit), and $899 (two lens kit), you get a lot of camera for very little money, which is why the E-500 gets my recommendation. Top

Nice camera
Strengths: Pretty looking, cheap price, two lenses
Weakness: Can not add date and time on the picture
I got the camera from amazon.com for a very decent price. In addition, this camera is equiped with two lenses which should be pretty much useful for normal shots. The main reason for me to buy a SLR camera is to take pictures of my fast moving baby. It works great. Although I can not use flash towards him, I can just use the low option to take several pictures of him even under dim condition. My wife and I love this camera. For that price, nothing can beat.
