I just bought these speakers today, and have enjoyed them all evening while working on my laptop. I am completely amazed--most happily--at the superb tone and great bass of these speakers. They are exactly the size I was looking for; the case is perfect for portability, which is an aspect important to me. I purchsed them at our local Best Buy, and was given excellent information AND recommendation by the salesman. In essence, I am completely pleased in all respects with these speakers.

Great product!

Strengths: Lightweight,good sound

Weakness: None

This is a great product. I have had zero problems so far. I use them with my Compaq laptop and the sound is a major improvement from the built in speakers.They were automatically detected and everything needed for operation was automatically loaded. I was a little wary of USB speakers but now I'm pleased that I made the purchase.

Logitech V20 Speakers are excellent.

Strengths: Excellent flat, realistic frequency response. Convenience.

Weakness: Control buttons are spongy and poorly marked.

We have a Sony VGN-FS550 laptop. The built-in speakers have barely any volume and sound harsh and shrill. We really wanted some relief.

I bought the Logitech V20 and expected an improvement. But I really didn't expect much more than the many PC speakers I have heard in the past. The V20 speakers turned out to be much better than I could have imagined.

I plugged them into a USB port and they worked right away.
There was no installion hassle at all.

Mainly, I was astonished at how good they sounded. The audio was smooth and realistic. Volume was more than enough for any normal desktop situation.

The audio was so fine that I wanted to take some measurements. I am including frequency response graphs of the V20, the Sony internal speakers, and my Monsoon system. While these are not "lab" measurements (I used my Radio Shack sound level meter and Cool Edit) but they really do show the differences between these speakers.

I found that the V20 response curve was beautifully flat from 110 Hz to above 7 kHz (which is the point that my sound level meter starts dropping off). The lack of unwanted frequency peaks and dips makes voices sound pure and realistic, and music does not fatigue. By contrast the graph of the Sony internal speakers shows the ragged frequency response and missing midrange that makes them sound so bad.

I have a much larger Monsoon flat panel speaker system with a subwoofer. I was surprised to find the V20 sounds better overall due to its exceptionally flat response. Even without the extended low frequencies provided by the Monsoon's woofer, the V20 frequency response still provides a satisfying bass for most listening.

There are a set of control buttons, and a blue power LED, on top of one speaker. The buttons are spongy and hard to see, but they work, and I consider this to be an insignificant weakness.

These speakers come with a very nice zippered and compartmented carry case. Traveling with them should be very easy. They weigh 2 pounds, but the sound quality more than compensates. And there is no power cube needed.

I am buying a second set for myself. I highly recommend the Logitech V20 USB speakers for anyone with a laptop.

A good choice of portable stereo system for the...

Strengths: Sleek portable design, easy to use and remarkable sound quality for portable (powered by USB port from your laptop) speakers.

Weakness: It comes with USB connector, limiting its use with computers only. The smart controls, such as play, stop, ff, and rew buttons built in the speakers, seem not useful much.

I picked up this system about two months ago. The experience shows these portable speakers are a nearly perfect choice for improvement from the laptop build-in speakers. Easy to install and get recognized automatically by my IBM X31. The sound quality is really good except 'vibrating' at high volume setting.
The carry box is sturdy, but a little bigger to put in my laptop bag
Overall, I recommend this set when you consider a portable sound expansion for the laptop.

Good sound, good size, nice case, too! Just watch...

Strengths: Good sound for little speakers. Controls on the top of the right speaker are a nice touch. Great carrying case provides good protection for travel.

Weakness: The main weakness is that if you crank the volume on these, the speakers tend to move all over the place on your desk from the bass vibration.

I bought these to use with my laptop at work, and overall, I'd say that I'm really pleased with them. As mentioned above (and in a lot of other reviews that I've seen), you have to watch out for these things when you kick up the volume, or if you have a track with lots and lots of bass. The speakers will literally dance across your desk. I imagine that putting something in front of them would probably hold them in place, and so beyond that, there aren't really any problems.

They're pretty stylish looking little speakers, and the fact that they plug directly into USB is also a big plus - you don't have tons of extra cables laying around, and you don't have to worry about finding an extra outlet for them. The other benefit of the USB is that you're getting full digital sound.

The carrying case is really nice. It's very sturdy, and the speakers and cords fit in nice and snug. At just 2lbs, they won't weigh you down if you're traveling with them.

I would definitely recommend these speakers to a friend. The only thing that keeps me from giving them five stars is the dancing effect at high volumes, but really that's just the tradeoff for Logitech making them so light.

perfect solution for a small desk setup

Strengths: excellent sound when considering its size and having no subwoofer, design is great, and no ac adapter!

Weakness: wish it was a little smaller

if you're looking for small speakers that you want to easily move from place to place, this is for you. we were searching for the smallest speakers we could find that would fit our new small computer desk, and this was perfect. also we were really glad that it uses the usb cable for sound and power since we didn't want any cable clutter. 40 dollars for this thing is the right price for it.

Great! speakers a lot better than the speakers that came with current computer. The speakers came with a case so your not going to confuse it with your laptop. Coll stuff.

v20 speakers

Strengths: good vocal range, good carrying case, easy operation

Weakness: bulky for travel

Excellent speaker system for the price. Clear sound with surprisingly deep bass sound. The bass has limited range but at the price is a good buy. Speakers are easy to set up. Just plug in. Quality hard case protects speakers when traveling, but case size is fairly large for some laptop cases. For the rich bass sound, the size is a minor sacrifice. Good system overall!

Super Sounding Notebook Speakers

Strengths: Great Sound, Small enough to carrying in a backpack or case. affordable if you buy on Ebay. Nice hard carry case.

Weakness: Controls are tiny & I am not sure if they work. I just got them yesterday & hooked them up. Could be lighter weight & cordless!

I bought mine on E-bay for $29.00 with shipping. Great deal! $69.99 + tax at Circuit City. I plugged these in to my new laptop & put in a music dvd and was totally impressed with the sound quality. Next I tried out Star Wars Revenge of the Sith. The sound was pretty good with this movie, however I realize they are not surround sound & cannot handle the wide range of highs & lows from the soundtrack, maybe if they had a small sub-woofer would help. I am not complaining as they are a huge improvement over the notebook speakers. Next I tried out Eric Clapton's Crossroads concert DVD & the sound was very impressive from this also. I turned the volume up to 50 of my laptop & only during Star Wars did I notice any distortion. Also I didn't not notice the blue light flashing to indicate lower the volume.
If it was possible without sacrificing sound quality & driving costs up to use a lighter enclosure material and make them wireless using the same tech as wireless mice. I think this would make them even better.
I would highly recommend the V20 for anyone using a notebook computer that wants better sound than the built in speakers.

Speakers on the go

Strengths: Small, carry case, good sound and no drivers needed

Weakness: they move when sound is maximum

I was wondering whether to go for V10 or V20 speakers and I am glad that I got these. They are so easy to use specially when travelling. I have a 17" laptop and the sound from the internal speakers was not so good but these speakers complement the screen very well and makes watching a dvd a fun experience. These come with a hard carry case and is of great quality to protect the speakers while travelling. The sound is really good for such compact speakers and I did not experience any distortion. They do not come with a remote but my media center remote does the job. The best part however is that no drivers are needed which is a big plus if you have many computers that u may need to plug them into. All in all a great product.

Good sound for portability

Strengths: Great sound at low-mid volume, USB powered, comes with travel case

Weakness: Mediocre sound at high volume (esp. with bass), no audio in for mp3 player use, no battery powered option

Overall I would recommend these speakers if you want to hear your music/watch your movies on your computer/laptop at low to mid volume. If you want real room filling sound, then this primarily PORTABLE speaker system isn't a good choice for you. Great for travel purposes, ok for home use. Oh, and if you are playing any type of bass through these speakers be prepared to fasten them or somehow wedge them in a position where they can't move otherwise they will have a tendency to walk off whatever surface they're on!

Best Laptop Speakers

Strengths: Light and portable, Enveloping soundstage, Controls on speakers, Plug and play

Weakness: Sound clips at moderately high volume, Speakers “dance” at high volumes or heavy bass, Can only be used with computers and not iPods or any other portable device

After being disappointed with the sound from my Sony laptop I decided to look for a good set of portable speakers. After much review I decided on the Logitech V20. I was very impressed on the look of the speakers, they complement most newer laptops. I was surprise the speakers did not come with a driver CD, anything USB now-a-days needs drivers. Setup was a snap, just plug the speakers in and you’re in business. These speakers sound great, just don’t turn the volume up too loud or the sound will clip. This is actually due to the lack of power the USB port provides. Also the speakers will dance around the table on most songs, no matter how much bass there is. Given these two limitations the speakers are wonderful. You won’t find better laptop speakers, period.

Surprising Sound Quality - Portable Speakers

Strengths: Price; Size; Sound Quality.

Weakness: Maybe a little too light.

These speakers couldn't be any easier to use, just plug and play! They have surprisingly good sound quality for their size. Definitely much better than you'll get from any built-in notebook speakers. They are small enough to carry with you without too much hassle. The only problem I found is that the bass sound quality is maybe a little too good for the weight of the speakers. Heavy bass tends to make them slightly bounce and buzz on hard surfaces. The solution is to turn down the bass on your music or place them on a semi-soft surface to help hold them in place and counter the vibration. Other than that, no complaints. Overall, a good value for the money!
