Great Product

Strengths: Not a single bad burn, plays in most of my DVD players

Weakness: None

These discs are great. With prices being below $2/disc more common these are great for DVD backups. Not a single bad burn, unlike Ritek/Memorex DL discs. Highly recommend.

Excellent Dual Layer Media

Strengths: Works with NEC 3550 burner. Burns at 4x speed.

Weakness: The price is high compared to single-layer. Did not work on every DVD player I tried.

I like to make backups without compressing so I picked up a couple packs of this dual-layer media. The burns tested fine at 2.4x and 4x speeds. They did not work on all DVD players I tried. It was at a friend's house so I can't remember what it was. It was a name brand though. It did work on my Panasonic RV32 DVD player.

Verbatim DVD+R DL

Strengths: Great dual layer discs.

I normally don't use DL discs but these were on sale at Best Buy, 10 for 20. I was able to burn a couple of movies using my BenQ 1640 and NEC 3540. From my research, these are the only dependable DL DVDs out there.

Verbatim DVD+R Double Layer Media

Strengths: These will burn at 4X, though I have read they will burn faster.

Weakness: None that I'm aware of.

DVD burning is not an exact science. These work well with my NEC 3520 burner. You might want to check at cdfreaks.com to see if there is a compatability issue with your burner.

Finally a quality Dual Layer Media

Strengths: Very Reliable, Wide Compatibility with various DVD Players

Weakness: Cost (Expensive), maybe speed .. but all DLs are slow, not just these Verbatims

Having had 1 out of 3 Memorex DL DVDs fail on me, I was weary of taking chances on double layer media, which is still atleast 5 time more expensive than single layer. However I was pleasantly surprised to see the flawless burning of all 10 verbatims that came in the pack. I use these DVDs to burn home video .. using a double layer DVD that stores double the content saves me a bit on postage when I send the stuff to my family which lives abroad.

Great DVD. didn't work with my DVD Player (buy 95014...

Strengths: It's great , but having problems with my dvd player. My 95014 (verbatim) disks are great with computer dvd and dvd player. this one only on computer.

Weakness: More expensive than other brands.

It's great , but having problems with my dvd player.
95014 (verbatim) disks are great with computer dvd and dvd player. This one only on computer. The specs were same for (95014) 3 pack and 95166 (10- pack) except packing and price. But 95166 works only on computer drive but 95014 works great on both. So I recommend, if you have a older dvd player (mine is 4 yrs) buy 95014 and NOT 95166 eventhough you may see better deals on it. Added : Can I do bitsetting to make this compaible with dvd players.I am using k3b.

Great reliable product.

Strengths: I have always had great success with Verbatim products and this one is no different.

Weakness: Wish they were faster.

I got a great deal on these discs and the $5 bonus makes it even better. I have never tried DL discs which is why I bought these. Verbatim makes a product you can trust.

I bought these from one of the local retailers when they had an excellent deal on these. I burned quite a few of these DL dvds and have been so far pleased with the results. Would recommend these to anyone looking for Dual Layer media

I bought this product because some people recommended it. This is my first batch of DL DVDs. I burned it with 6x speed and it works great. I hope the price will be lower.

Zero coasters with Verbatim DL DVDs.

Strengths: Superb reliability.

Weakness: Price higher than other brands, but no coasters.

This is what you get if you want zero coasters. I have used both Ridata and Memorex with terrible results. Verbatim is a much better product. I hope the price of DL DVDs comes down a bit further, or that the cheaper brands become more reliable.

High quality

Strengths: Double layer makes it 8.5G. High quality. Burn fast.

Weakness: Expensive

I had Memorex DL DVD before. Normally I only burn at 2x otherwise might have error. This one works great. I can burn at 4x without any problem. So far I burned 10 of them and all successfully. They work on my DVD player flawlessly. I never had any jumping frames.

Verbatim +DL media

Strengths: Ability to overspeed media to 8x

Weakness: Quality scans are better using discs from 3 pack

So got a 10 pack of these for cheap a while ago and have used all of them on a Benq 1640. They burn at 2.4x, 4x, or 8x speed. The quality scans are the same no matter what speed you burn at, so overburn away! BUT...the scans are not as good as some that I have seen coming from the 3 pack +DL media. But the discs play great in my stand alone, with no skips, blips, or dips. Superb media!

Verbatim DVD+R DL

Strengths: Very consistent. Hardly any coasters.

Weakness: A little pricey

Overall I would highly recommend these discs. For me Verbatim
seem to be overall the most consistent. Dual(double) layer discs are still a little pricey but to me Verbatim is the best of the bunch.

The only one to buy for DL Media

Strengths: Good quality, burn right the first time

Weakness: Only available in 10 pack.

I have a Plextor 8X DL DVD drive and this is only product that allows you to burn DL DVDs at 8X. No more coasters either, you can burn a DL DVD right the first time.

Great DVD's

Strengths: The best quality DL's available at this time.

Weakness: Price unless on sale.

Got these on sale at BB for cheap, thought I would play with some DL's finally. Burned them at 4X on my NEC 3500 no coasters after 3 so far. Nero picked up the size of the discs automatically.

Best DL discs out there!

Strengths: Fast burning speed. High Quality. "+" media can be bitset to "ROM"

Weakness: non-printable label

After burning some coasters with Ritek and Maxell DL media, I tried out the Verbatim and haven't burned a coaster yet. Additionally, these will burn at 6x on my Plextor 716A with excellent PIO scans. I've read that 8x is acheivable on the newer NEC drives, but don't have one of these drives to confirm.

Also, each of my burns have worked without issue on all 3 of my set-top DVD players, including a rather old Sony from a few years back. My family has also reported stellar results on their players, which include a 5 disc Toshiba changer and a Samsung DVD/VHS combo unit.

Great Dual Layer media!

Strengths: Compatibility, Quality, Error-free recording.

Weakness: Somewhat expensive

This dual layer media is excellent. So far, I have burned quite a few with no problems. They are recognized by all the players I own so they provide excellent compatibility. It seems to be manufactured with high quality materials (AZO layers, etc). I wish the price would come down to the level of regular DVDrs, especially in light of the fact that Blu-ray and HD discs are just around the corner. Great product!

Great Media. Great Price. No coasters.

Strengths: Simply the best product out in the market.

Weakness: Slow speed

If you are looking for dual layer media Verbatim, I bought this product for only $21 for $10 less $5 Price Grabber rebate = $16.

How does it get any better?

Dual Layer

Strengths: 9GB of storage

Weakness: Still expensive.

Every so often I want to have a full 9GB for home movies or to store data. I've used these disks both on a Plextor 716 drive on a PC and they work great. I've also used them in a Mac G5 with a Pioneer 109 and have had no problems either. I've probably used a total of 18 disks in the past year and had one bad burn.

Good product

Strengths: Works well with my Plextor writer

Weakness: Not compatible with some dvd player

This is a good product in comparison to competing Memorex. I didn't have any problems burning these disks in my Plextor. However, I found that the disks didn't play well in my older Toshiba dvd player. That Toshiba was one of the first players on the market, though, so I am not surprised. I didn't have any problems with a newer player.

A Dual Layer Disc That Works Flawlessly...

Strengths: While gas hits over $3/gallon, this disc falls under $3...finally.

Weakness: Still expensive compared to regular dvd+r--almost 10x more expensive to be exact.

This is my first batch of dual (or double as some parties like to call them) layer discs that I was actually able to get for under $3/disc from buy.com. They usually have coupons, so you can definitely get it below $30 for the 10 pack.

Overall, I've burned a couple discs and everything is A-OK! I played the discs in multiple dvd players and computer dvd-roms and rw's without a hitch. I'm using the new NEC-3540A dvd+/-rw burner.

Being able to make a 1:1 copy of a commercial dvd is outstanding and, therefore, no more need for compression with degradation of quality. I'm extremely happy with this purchase eventhough these discs still are almost 10x as much as plain jane dvd+r's. I suspect in the coming months that the price and availability from other manufacturers will greatly improve.

Highly recommended compared to, say, Memorex dvd+r dl, which I've read some horrible reviews on. I personally haven't tried the Memorex dual layer, but I had awful experiences with their regular dvd+r discs. Stay away from them and stick with Verbatim or TDK.

Verbatim DVD_R DL 10-pack (95166)

Strengths: Quality

Weakness: Price

Verbatim has the best name in dual layer media. These disks burned at 4X on my Pioneer DVR-108 drive. These disks cost me around $3 a piece, while you can get Memorex 2.4X DL disks for around $2 each. I have had success with both brands while others have only had success with Verbatim.
