Great sound, Great bass, uncomfortable earcups,...

Strengths: Good sound and frequency response. Low impedance allows for higher volume sound with same source as other headphones.

Weakness: Cups swivel just a little too easily, earcups are round in shape, don't fully fit over ear.

I bought these because it was one of the few at this price that had such a low frequency response (5 Hz). You can hear this in the deeper bass tones in everything you listen to, which necessarily allows for a fuller tonal experience. High frequency response is crisp and tones are well separated. Overall, they sound great and cannot go back to using cheaper tinny sounding headphones and ear buds any more. I bought these also to replace my Jabra CS0115 Noise Canceling headphones. I used to think the Jabra's were great, as they were my first non-bud headphones but now realize how inferior their sound was in comparison to these Denons.

I normally use these to listen to low power sources, such as ipod, computer, and cd player and do not have any other amplifiers. I use these in an office environment where I do a small amount of movement around my desk.

The headphones seem sturdy and well made, another reason i chose these. Many of the headphones I looked at had the same design as my Jabra's (which broke), where the band over the head connects to the earphones with just a thin plastic piece sliding over the part of the headphones. Headphones always break at this stress point from taking them on and off, but these appear to be sturdy at that point. I noticed another reviewer's lasted for 4 months before breaking there, so I'll have to wait and see how these hold up.

My biggest complaint is the shape of the earcups. I've never understood the round-shaped cups, as nobody I know has round ears, and my ears are not particularly big. Consequently, the headphones sit sort of on top of my ears, which is uncomfortable and kind of reduce the noise blocking capacity of the cups. I wish they were the same shape as the other Denon's, oval and completely covering the ear.

My other complaint is the easiness of the swivel cups. They swivel fully 180 degrees back and forth and about 150 degrees outward. I don't do any DJ'ing so maybe this is a desirable feature but I find that they swivel so loosely that they need constant adjustment on my head from just a little bit of movement around my desk.

The comfort factor keeps me from giving it 5 stars, but I think they are a great pick for that price, as the sound and build quality are great, and if your ears are very small, maybe you won't notice.

Be wary

Strengths: Good sound, nice looks, great comfort.

Weakness: Snapped in two after four months on identical stress cracks on the retractable arm extensions.

I had these four just over four months and loved them up to the point they snapped in two. Stress cracks developed at identical points on the sliding arm extensions about an inch above the ear piece on what looks to be a join of some sort. I babied these when I had them and they really only got moderate use. I stored them in the bag whenever I wasn't using them and they never got sat on or abused in anyway that could have damaged them, especially considering they broke at the exact same point on both sides. Major design flaw or maybe I got a lemon, but buyer beware on these, you may find you have 130 bucks worth of fancy looking garbage before you know it.

Denon DN HP1000 Headphones are definately worth it!

Strengths: Noise Cancelation is terrific, Very comfortable, Bass is deep and highs are high. You can hear every sound of the song crystal clear. Plus the headphones are sick looking!!! Very Stylish.

Weakness: None that I have come to thus far.

Unbeatable for that price, there is no other headphone for around $120 that can be comparable to these, I have searched thoroughly before buying and nothing I could find had better stats and now that I have them I am definitely not disappointed. They are very slick looking with the stainless steel Denon DJ logo on both sides of the cans, and the Denon DJ written on the top. They sound so crisp and I am hearing things in songs which i have not before... It's amazing!
Definitely recommend.
