2nd pair of these speakers I have purchased, the...

Strengths: Sound Quality, ease of installation, great looks, best price for any desktop / computer speaker out there. Better than more expensive speakers

Weakness: Trying to convince friends that a pair of $50 speakers cuts it. That's the only weakness. I have sold these speakers to several of my friends and all of them have been happy.

These speakers deliver clear sound with a clarity usually only accomplished by dropping a few hundred dollars. At less than $50, you can't go wrong. Plus they look great, the footprint is small, and did I say the price was great?

Clear, crisp vocals

Strengths: Pleasant, clear sound, especially vocals.

Weakness: Takes two hands to turn on the power.

I upgraded from the built-in speakers in my laptop & am very happy w/ the sound quality of these speakers. Vocals are very clear and precise at both lower listening levels up close & at louder volumes at a distance. I was not after wall-rattling base, just a pleasent sound from a two-speaker system. These speakers are efficient, do not need the volume turned up all the way to fill a room w/ sound. Only complaint is the poor design of the on/off/volume knob-pointed & slippery. I cannot turn it on one-handed, the speaker moves on the desk & the knob slides out of my grasp. Once turned on I can adjust the volume one-handed. Other than that knob, highly recommended.

Good 2-piece speaker at the $30-40 price range

Strengths: Reasonably good sound, very good bass response Stylish, takes up little space

Weakness: Not so impressive on the high end of the spectrum No headphone output Knob is not easy to turn

I picked up this pair of speakers for my 3-year-old PC. At $35, this is a very solid speaker system. Looks great, but I think the Aluminum color one would be even better.

Good for most gaming, video, or music on the PC. However, at this price range you cannot expect exceptional performance. But I would say the JBL duet sounds great. ALthough it sounds shrilling at highs (especially for strings music), overall it's still very pleasant sounding and i can listen to classical music for hours on this.
It can be very loud, and I seldom turn it to over half of max volume.

Setup is easy but the knob is hard to turn. ANd there is no headphone output. These are the main complaints I have about the duet.

JBL Duet PC Multimedia Speaker

Strengths: clarity, warmth, space saver, sleek design, no subwoofer to mess with, single knob operation makes them almost idiot proof.

Weakness: knob is hard to 'click' on with one hand because they are fairly lightweight, lack of eq, lack of headphone jack, not as much bass as a 2.1 chan system.

if you need some great sounding pc speakers, but don't want a subwoofer, these are the ones you want. i replaced a pair of bargain basement speakers with these and the difference was night and day. they sound clean, warm, and you can listen to them for hours without your ears getting tired.

So-So

Strengths: Brand name, average sound quality

Weakness: Very low on power, cant handle high volume

The brand name is what is attractive, bought them some time back, but was thoroughly disappointed, i would recommend Altec lansing, cheaper and much better.IN short, not worth the price.

JBL Duet PC Multimedia Speaker

Strengths: excellent sound quality

Weakness: pricy

I'm picky about sound quality, but I was amazed what those two small speakers can do!
you can get cheap 3 peace speakers (with sub) for ~ half of those price, but sound won't be any close to what harmon kardon does.
I love it.

Eh.... they're alright.

Strengths: Takes little space, good bass quantity w/o a subwoofer, easy to hook up, nice clarity and stylish.

Weakness: Scooped out midrange, and not very detailed.

They don't sound particularly detailed and the poor midrange can makes the music sound uneven. However, these are fine if you plan to just use it for light listening and background music while you are working. For under 40 dollars, they are not bad at all.

JBL Duet Speakers

Strengths: Good looking, great sound. Well worth the money

Weakness: On/Off/ Volume knob too slippery!

Great price and sound for the money. Nice style compared to others that looked too industrial. I just use them for listening to music. I'm not a gamer requiring bass and room thumping sound so these are a great fit for me. I would recommend them.
