Netgear WGT624 Wireless Firewall RouterStrengths: works great, low price, easy to configure, remote http management, ACL to restrict client list Weakness: logging is very basic, and not verbose enough. NetGear support docs are pretty thin and India-based helpdesk - expect to search with google if you need help or advice. I purchased this NetGear WGT624 802.11g to replace an aging Linksys 802.11b network - oh man what a difference! 100% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Netgear WGT624 Wireless Firewall RouterStrengths: it works even through 3 walls and it is fast Weakness: You cannot block single computer from accessing the Internet but there are many software that can achieve that. I looked at all these reviews before me and I was surprised because I had this NetGear WGT624 Wireless 802.11G 108 Mbps for 6 months and it did not go bad and it works like magic, I do not feel it is fair to say that manufacturers produce items to become defective after 6 months or so because any item can go bad in any length of time. I worked for Sony electronics before and in some cases things did not last long but in general manufacturers try to produce the best anyway, I have this wireless for 6 months and I never had any problem with it, I have 3 walls between one of my computers and the router and it still works and not even once that I lost signal, I never had to use technical support therefore I can not right about that but this is a great wireless router and I would recommend it. 92% of readers found this review helpful. Netgear WGT624 Wireless Firewall RouterStrengths: thin, sharp, fast(when it works) Weakness: very unstable, keep rebooting I regret for purchasing this product. I bought it because the price was attractive at that time and somewhat went for its brand name. However, it kept rebooting so that my network was always disconnected. After one month tried out, I had to change another router and put this one away. Two of my friends have the same experience with it. I guess I will never purchase any NetGear product again. 89% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Netgear WGT624 Wireless Firewall RouterStrengths: Extremely long range, super fast speed. What else do you need ? Weakness: couple of problems with setup. It started working after reading the manual ;) This thing is simply sick. I've set up wireless networks before, but this one was unreal. Though I had some setup problems (wireless wouldn't work at first, because it is not set to broadcast its name), I would recommend anytime. Netgear provides one of the best management interfaces and most capabilites to protect yourself from the outside. It's not only good looking but works like a champ. 88% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Netgear WGT624 Wireless Firewall RouterStrengths: It is sleek. When it works (not often) it is fast. Weakness: Defective product (tried 2 units) and terrible tech support I purchased and set up the unit quickly to my DSL modem with no problems. it was fast. Then, without warning, it would start dropping the internet cionnection. I would have to reboot. Sometimes it was very difficult as it frquently could not be accessed to reconfigure. I would have to do hard resets. This problem began to recur more and more ofter to the point that it was inoperative most of the time. Tech support from Indfia was slow, indecipherable and not very helpful. After several long sessions (where we would get it working but not for long) and arguments with them they agreed that the unit was defective and I returned it. One of the techs finally admitted this was a known problem. Their tech support is India-based and impossible to understand. They also would repeat teh same failed procedures over and over. The second unit arrived and i set it up and it worked very well for about 2 weeks. Then the same thing starting happening. It would drop the internet connection for no reason and then when it came back up, it would lose all identity and have to be rebooted and re-set if I could. I suspect an overheating issue, as it would work for a while and then go crazy. I gave up and bought a Linksys router. The Linksys unit has performed flawlessly for the past 3 months. I will never buy another NetGear product. 87% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

The biggest POS I've ever had for a router (and I've...Strengths: It looks cool Weakness: Very unstable, had a huge headache both with customer service and router itself I purchased a refurbished version of the same router less than a month ago, due to my own mistake (the website listed it as a refurb way at the bottom, where I didn't read). Two weeks later it totally stopped working, basically stopped giving out IPs to wired computers and no internet for either wired or wireless. The company I got it from does not accept returns on refurbs, and Netgear told me they will not RMA refurbs, only give technical support (basically telling me over and over to reset it or renew my IP). I'm out of $45. 86% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Netgear WGT624 Wireless Firewall RouterStrengths: Excellent setup, administration, tons of options, sets up a feature rich, secure network environment. Supports "B only" "G only" "B and G" and "108meg" modes. Great ad blocking capabilities! Weakness: Marketing was not clear about what you need to get 108MbpS. Log too small, options for emailing it to you leave much to be desired. Doesn't allow PS2 game SOCOM II headset to work. I love this thing. I wish the online documentation had been a little more clear that I need other Netgear 108 MbpS "Super G" devices in order to achieve 108 MbpS. But then I was the first person to buy one of these (close anyway). I had my order placed long before it was available. The only other gotchya is that you have to choose between "B only" "G only" "B and G" and "108meg". You can't just turn it on and get A, B, G, Super G, and Turbo A, it doesn't work that way. I run "B and G" right now to make it work with all my stuff. But such is the situation with the RF spectrum. You can't have it all in the same airspace at once. Setup is a breeze, but word of advice. First start with all your options turned off. Give it a simple SSID, enable the wireless access point, disable the security option, leave it as an open system-no WEP or WEP key, and allow the SSID to be broadcast. Get everything working, and then start changing one security option at a time, first on the router and then on the nodes. Otherwise you'll be chasing your tail for hours. Change the IP address range to allow only as many nodes as you are going to ever support by using a smaller subnet mask. Example: 85% of readers found this review helpful. Netgear WGT624 Wireless Firewall RouterStrengths: Easy install, Nice Product. Weakness: None Based on my previous good experience, I decided to buy another product from NETGEAR. It is really nice product in my friend's place. There are some confusing during the installation. After reading manual again and search Internet, I figure it out. Good design and nice look. 85% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Netgear WGT624 Wireless Firewall RouterStrengths: 108Mbps thruput when using WG511T card, very easy setup, smaller size, 3-year warranty Weakness: 108Mbps requires proprietary card and not compatible with other 80211B or G devices when active Upgrading from an old Belkin 802.11b router. Activated very quickly with 5 minutes worth of configuration. Only major complaint is this: there are 4 modes to run in - 802.11b, 802.11g, 80211b/g and 108Mbps. When using 108Mbps this effectively locks out all other cards and devices that are using the other protocols such as wireless printer servers, wireless game points of presence etc.. Supposedly a new firmware release is supposed to address this. 81% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Netgear WGT624 Wireless Firewall RouterStrengths: Looks, GUI, Supports AppleTalk and most major platform protocols. Weakness: 6 month lifespan After being told that I would be better off with a brand that several retailers didn't even handle, I got the picture. Two retailers told me that as a whole Netgear is becoming known for defective products and that the ones that do work, only do so for six months and then die. They also say they get lots of complaints about the outsourced tech support. Which has to be the worst on the planet. I have a private U.S. second level number now since I threatened a class action suit. It took over four months to determine that my 624 was defective, due to the linguistic differences and that they follow a list and have no resources for free thought which is essential for tech support. 73% of readers found this review helpful. Jan 11, 2006 I bought two of these, one for myself and one for a friend of mine. Both stopped working in a short period of time. Fortunately, one I bought in December 2005, so I can still RMA it. The other one I bought a year ago for my friend but it has not worked right for several months. I thought my friend had done something to it, but now it appears to be defective. Is there any class action law suit? If so I would like to add that one to it. By the way, I did try to call customer support, but the person could not speak english. AWFUL. I will never buy a Netgear product again. Thanks for listening.

Netgear WGT624 Wireless Firewall RouterStrengths: 108 Mbps Wow! Really good signal even in basement with router two stories above, through floors and walls. Setup was simple, even with port forwarding for web/mail svrs, Ghost Recon, and video conf. Weakness: no apparent weaknesses I paid $110 dollars and $70 for the 511T card to go with it. I am connecting and 108 Mbps, in basement, outside in the yard. Connection was very simple, with multiple profiles so that I can use access point in multple locations, ie work and school. Must have the matching card and router to get 108. I use video conf with Windows Messenger, play Ghost Recon, and host web/mail/sql servers behind this thing. It has advanced capability for routing that is very easy to set up. It also is very easy to lock the wireless access point down. Turn on/off, MAC access list, WEP or WPA encryption and CA capability, UPnP and NAT works great. I highly recommend. I used the Linksys 4 port for several years and chose this model so I could add wireless capability. I am very happy with it. Would be great for a small business, as I was able to set up subnetting and routing easily, and was able to set up security, filtering, monitoring and logging. 71% of readers found this review helpful. Netgear WGT624 Wireless Firewall RouterStrengths: easy to install. strong signal. Weakness: none yet This unit is in a 3rd floor bedroom and my computer is on the 2nd floor and always gets an "excellent" or "very good" signal. I have not had any weak or dropped signals. I have a hardwired internet connection at work and I can't tell a difference with this wireless set up. 71% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Netgear WGT624 Wireless Firewall RouterStrengths: Very stable connection. Easy setup. Very Fast Weakness: Does not support "UDP Consistent Translation" Overall it is a good router, but would not buy another one, since it does not support UDP Consistent Translation, which makes P2P file sharing a pain. I figured all routers now would have it and the documentation showed no information to suggest that it has or dosen't have it. The router is Good, but in the future I would choose a Linksys, because my old Linksys supported UDP Consistent Translation. 67% of readers found this review helpful. Netgear WGT624 Wireless Firewall RouterStrengths: NONE Weakness: MANY I have to convince myself this is not a very good wireless router. The signal is unstable sometime it works, sometime it does not. Worse design interface, not user friendly. Try SMC or something else definitely not this router. I own SMC router before, it's reasonable, better signal, secure configuration. 67% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Netgear WGT624 Wireless Firewall RouterStrengths: This unit has excellent range and if fairly simple to set up. Weakness: None This was my first time to set up a router and I did have one problem but, it wasn't the router's fault. This unit has excellent range and a self explanitory menu as far setting its' options. I haven't checked for the maximum range but I know it will reach at least 150' outside of my house with it placed in the center of my house and sitting on top of my computer. I would purchase this unit again if I needed another router. As far as the problem I had looked in the support section of the NETGEAR website and couldn't find the answer. I emailed tech support with my problem on a holiday and they sent me the correct response for the problem early the next buisness day. What was the problem? The problem was trying to get into the routers menu to set it up. The problem was with Explorer, under Tools, under Connection, a box was checked to automatically dial default connection. That box had to be unchecked and the box that said to never dial connection had to be checked. 67% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Netgear WGT624 Wireless Firewall RouterStrengths: Works well as a wireless router, nice software feature set. Weakness: Does not work as a wireless access point, ineffective as a doorstop. Unlike many other routers on the market, including older Netgear models, this one will not rebroadcast DHCP client requests from the wireless to the wired network. 65% of readers found this review helpful. Netgear WGT624 Wireless Firewall RouterStrengths: compact design Weakness: the router keeps rebooting because of interference from 2.4Ghz devices I have a 2.4Ghz phone that sits close to the router. Whenever the phone rings or when trying to make a call, the router reboots. Since the phone uses VoIP the call is dropped! Router stops rebooting if wireless features are disabled, however that defeats the purpose of this router. Netgear support is useless - they advised to move the phone away from the router. I can't do it because the phone uses VoIP. Besides, the router should not reboot period! The problem has not been fixed after many firmware upgrades. Do yourself a favor and buy a Linksys. 64% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Netgear WGT624 Wireless Firewall RouterStrengths: None. Could not get to work at all after trying 2 different units, and spending hours with tech support in India. Weakness: All. Does not work. Would not complete setup, Tried updating firmware, unit crashed. Kept rebooting itself. Trying to set up a home network for satellite internet. Read review of WGT624 in July '04 PC World and said this is the one for me. Tried to get first unit working, no dice, called tech support in Indai. After getting used to accent, worked for hour and a half before tech said unit was defective, and to get a replacement. Got one next day, tried to set it up, no dice. Called tech support again, talked for over 2 hours when unit began rebooting itself and would not stop. Said to get a replacement. Netgear? NOT! Got a Linksys Wireless G router, in 5 minutes was up and running, no hassles, no problems. This is all true! No more Netgear for me! 60% of readers found this review helpful. Netgear WGT624 Wireless Firewall RouterStrengths: Great look and feel Weakness: Did not get true 108, but very close! Very seamless to use and operate. Setup was very easy, took me about 10 minutes. Netgear WGT624 Wireless Firewall RouterStrengths: Small & lightweight, Design, very fast speed set at super G compaired to 802.11b. Really easy to get up & running. Weakness: none so far. This is my second set of netgear products & I must say that I'm very pleased with the way installation & performance went. I upgraded from a 802.11b network & I can really see a difference in the speed with files between the computers on my network. Setup was nothing, I had no problem at all. When you read reviews you need to keep in mind that no pc is set up the same way. Their might be a problem with your pc that might cause hardware not to work like it should, and my pc might not have that problem so therefor the hardware would most likely work. I read the reviews & when more than half of the reviews are saying the samething (negative), then I think about it. How would you know about a product if you don't try it yourself. If not happy with then just return it. No one thinks alike. What I think is great might be terrible to you. Don't knock it until you try it. 57% of readers found this review helpful. Netgear WGT624 Wireless Firewall RouterStrengths: Good Design, Good signal at close proximity Weakness: extremely short range, Needs to be reseted every once in a while, bad customer service I bought this wireless router to work with my two apple computers, and would not buy it again. It does the trick as long you stay in the room, but do not try ot go wireless troughout your whole flat or house. The signal is weak and reconnecting after loosing signal is not that great. I also own a regular Apple Airport with the slower 802.11 b standard, which works much better. 50% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Netgear WGT624 Wireless Firewall RouterStrengths: Works great with all my newer equipment, it's fast, and had a seamless transition to new the router Weakness: Set up alittle confusing, and can't get the wireless to work with my older laptop, Windows Me, and a Netgear MA401 PC card Setup ended up easier once I shut down Zone Alarm (it pretty much did it itself, even though I went through the motions). Once router was setup, I was able to start Zone Alarm up again, and haven't had any problems (up to this point). My new laptop (Windows XP), which has wireless built in, had no problem finding the signal and setting itself up. My older laptop still doesn't recognize the signal through wireless, but using an FA510 wired card, the internet's up and running on it. I've tried playing with the TCP/IP properties to no avail. In a few days of more trying, I'll give tech support a shot. Other than that problem, which is not a small one, tho it is being circumvented, the router works quite well. We'll see what happens with tech support. 50% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Netgear WGT624 Wireless Firewall RouterStrengths: Fast, Sleek, Reliable Weakness: Configuration slightly confusing Great piece of hardware. A piece of advise though if you want to achieve the "108 mbps". You need other Netgear 108 "Super G" devices in order to attain that speed. Nonetheless, the plain 802.11g is excellent. Reception and signal quality was always good, but the setup is slightly confusing. The manual guide isn't too bad though. Remember that you need to set it to b/g/a or 108. It can't work with all networking protocols at once. I have mine currently set at b+g, which is what I recommend for max compatibility with today's hardware. 50% of readers found this review helpful. Netgear WGT624 Wireless Firewall RouterWeakness: Unreliable. 4 Port switch doesn't work correctly. No log of wireless connections. The first one I got kept rebooting even though it was a "v2" model. Netgear WGT624 Wireless Firewall RouterStrengths: Stands on end to save desk space. Easy to setup. Easy to update the firmware. Hardware firewall with SPI. Weakness: uploading large files to the web affects speed of web access for other computers. I haven't gotten a chance to test the wireless aspect of this router yet so I cannot comment on it. As already mentioned it can stand up vertically with the included stand and save desk space which is a nice feature. The setup was easy, I just plugged it in, updated the firmware with a couple clicks of the mouse and was ready to go. Not sure if all routers do this but I did notice that when I was uploading a bunch of pictures to the web it slowed the web access connection of other computers on the Network. Not a problem though as I upload files in frequently. My main reason for buying this router was to have one with a firewall with SPI. This is a must for having a secure network and this router has it and the price is right. 25% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

NO to serious gamersStrengths: Decent avg use router Slick look Weakness: Not for gaming purposes This router have good looks but I h8 it for gaming. My connection drops out completely around once every 30-1 hr that becomes annoying. When this happens I will be booted from my online game. While surfing the net this happens too as when it drops, it takes around 10-20 secs before a web page loads up. After 4 month of crappy drops and all I switched to ZyXEL X-550 which I did a lot of research and found a good price for it. For gamers and p2p users I would seriously recommend the ZyXEL X-550. ZERO drops after two weeks of heavy usage and very noticible faster internet speeds. The ZyXEL have many features look it up I am sure you won't be disappointed. Netgear WGT624 Wireless Firewall RouterStrengths: Works beautifully. Its chief advantage is that it is very easy to set up! Weakness: Drops wireless connections on occasion. I used to have a Netgear wired router (the rt314), but then I decided to go wireless. This router gets incredibly good range (great signal a good way down the block, outside of my house), but that might be a disadvantage if you don't have WEP enabled. This router works wonderfully and is very easy to set up. The only possible disadvantage I see is that the default setting is not WEP protected. 0% of readers found this review helpful. netgear routerStrengths: easy setup like the warrenty again set up Weakness: none It works great with my laptops with newest security features and the setup process is very easy. Signal strength so far is good and I never lose connections. The firmware is OK, easily upgradeable. I could not find yet a way to configure it as a bridge reliably, but supposedly it is possible. Good router does all the jobsStrengths: Slick design, easy setup, signal strength is good, support new security features Weakness: My laptop never works in the 108Mbps mode. This router is a good economic router for most 802.11b/g devices. The price used to be cheap but now need to spend more to get it. The shape and color is pretty beautiful, but nothing suprising. It works great with my laptops with newest security features and the setup process is very easy. Signal strength so far is good and I never lose connections. The only thing is that my laptop never works in the advertised 108Mbps mode, probabily my build-in card is not Netgear and does not support that mode. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Decent router, so and so rangeStrengths: 108 Mbps connection if the other devices can support Weakness: range could be better I've got this one as a replacement for a US Robotics 108 MBps that died suddenly. While it did not have any issues with other 108 devices from other manufacturers, the range is sensibly smaller that the USR one. The firmware is OK, easily upgradeable. UnstableStrengths: None Weakness: Dropping off connections It worked fairly well for about 6 months. It starts to drop off connections recently. I have one computer connected through network cable, three computer connected using wireless. The router starts to drop off connections to one or two computers randomly, reboot the router will re-connect, some time you have to reboot the computer too. The problem gets worse and worse, it will drop every 20 minutes or so now, basically not usable. I have a spare brand new DI-524 from D-link, trying to replace this one but it has the same problem even it is a brand new! Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Netgear quality or lack thereofStrengths: Advertising Weakness: Quality This is the second netgear router I've had...the first lasted 1 year and 1 week...just beyond warranty. Purchased another (current router) and this one lasted 10 months and is now considered defective. Network kept going down to the point I had to continually reconfigure the router. Network would only stay up for a max of 3 days and sometimes went down 3 or 4 times a day. Paid for a service call (netgear only provides free support for 90 days) and have been working with support on resolving the problem for a month now. They have finally said it is defect and they will provide a replacement, and this is like rubbing your face in it, but they will not ship the new router until they receive the old. If however I want to pay extra (about $20) they will ship before they receive the defective router. I have logged a comment under the trouble ticket that this is unacceptable. Netgear WGT624 Wireless Firewall RouterStrengths: easy set up. works fine at shorter distances Weakness: Poor past 75 feet This didn't work very well more than 75 feet away, I went and returned it for a BELKIN F5D9230-4 G+MIMO which seems to work throughout my larger house, even though I didn't upgrade my G notebook card yet to the G+MIMO Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Get your maney back from NetgearStrengths: None Weakness: Yes I purchased this router after using wired netgear products for years w/out issue. With the WGT624 I went through 2 routers from netgear both malfunctioned in the same way. 1st dropping the connection and then not responding at all - to pings or at the admin IP. Netgear WGT624 Wireless Firewall RouterStrengths: Easy to use; fast Weakness: none I bought this super G router about half a year ago. The router is very easy to set up and use. Netgear WGT624 Wireless Firewall RouterStrengths: good speed, but that's it! Weakness: drops ports constantly, worse tech support I've ever experienced This is one of the worse routers I've ever purchased. I'm on my second one now and this one is a V2 and still drops ports worse than the first one did, even with the latest firmware! I'm on a cable connection. Netgear's tech support is the worse I've ever experienced. Not only do they use Indian based support, they will not return emails or calls. Phone lines are constantly busy. They would not even issue me an RMA after two months of emails on my part. I exchanged via Curcuit City, where the manager knew about the issues with tech support and helped me out! Thanks guys! DON'T BUY THIS ROUTER unless you want problems! Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Netgear WGT624 Wireless Firewall RouterStrengths: The list of of features is impressive: 1. 108Mbps Wi-Fi support / with WPA-PSK encryption 2. A built-in SPI Firewall 4. 4 Port-switch 5. Fairly easy configuration. 6. All at a very attractive price. Weakness: owever, the impressive list of features is undermined by very poor firmware/hardware design, exacerbated by lack of real technical support. Of course, there seem to be positive experiences for other Amazon customers, which are probably mor of exception th Prior to the upgrade, under heavy load (ie. Bittorrent), the unit would reboot continously and lock up after 6 hours. Since the upgrade, the router now has handled 6+ days of a continous heavy load (300k down, 50k up) without as much as a hiccup Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Netgear WGT624 Wireless Firewall RouterStrengths: Strong signal. Setup was easy enough. Weakness: After 2 months of ownership and having the latest firmare early on,now it's starting to reboot itself. This is the second Netgear router I've owned. Both wireless. First I had about a year with no probs, then suddenly it just died and that was that! Lasted ONE year! So went out and bought the latest version, this one. For the first two months,it was great! I could get signal everywhere I went and it was better than my old router. Then...suddenly,without changing one thing...it starts to reboot itself. It loses internet signal..my computer says 'signal is disconnected'...look at the router,it's rebooting. ???? Ok,what the heck. Checked all cables, connections, fine. Using direct input from local computer so it ain't the wireless,it's the direct hardline input. Funny enough,as I'm writing this..it rebooted itself again, just now!! Don't buy this POS. Get something better. I'm going to have to evidently.... Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Netgear WGT624 Wireless Firewall RouterStrengths: It's fast, very easy to set-up and fun to sit on the couch and browse. For two or more people living under one roof with lap-tops, it definitely makes sense. Weakness: Randomly reboots when the wireless is enabled. The rebooting problem is probably firmware and should be fixed in the future, so the only thing you need to do is keeping the update of the firmware from Netgear website. Netgear WGT624 Wireless Firewall RouterStrengths: Easy Setup. Great Connection - at 104Mbps. Streaming data works well. Good-looking design Weakness: Need to have some knowledge of networking. Need specific PC card to reach 104Mbps. Fast like a race car; temperamental like a race car. Buy it only if you're prepared for the upkeep. Can't see how other products could be better. Netgear WGT624 Wireless Firewall RouterStrengths: Easy setup Weakness: Bad firmware, weak signal, reboot frequently, terrible customer service I got this router for over 5 months. Except the easy setup, all I met were problems. I upgraded the firmware to the latest version as it recommended. Then the speed of the router was down to less then 20Kbps. I called the customer service of Netgear. After being held for over 40 minutes, someone in India said that I have to register the product online first to get support. Later I found in a forum where people discussed about this issue. And it was caused by the firmware. But there is no way to flash the firmware backward. I had to go back to the store and asked for an exchange. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Netgear WGT624 Wireless Firewall RouterStrengths: supports long range and quiet stable Weakness: bit difficult to install I've set up wireless networks before, but this one was unreal. Though I had some setup problems (wireless wouldn't work at first, because it is not set to broadcast its name), I would recommend anytime. Netgear provides one of the best management interfaces and most capabilites to protect yourself from the outside. It's not only good looking but works like a champ. Netgear WGT624 Wireless Firewall RouterStrengths: Excellent Weakness: Haven't seen any This is a great router. It is very easy to install and it is very user friendly. It transmits wireless internet signals which can be encoded so other people do not connect to your network. It has an automatic update feature for the firmware which takes care of itself so you never have to worry about frying the hardware. It is extremely user friendly, even someone extremely clueless about home networking can be an "IT Guy for a day" when installing the router! Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Netgear WGT624 Wireless Firewall RouterStrengths: Effortless setup, trouble free operation Weakness: None This router has been a great product for me and provided trouble free operation on both the land and wireless networks. I've had no problems connecting with a variety of wireless adapters and the router hardly ever needs a reset. Note that I have the v2 hardware version which may have fixed a lot of the initial reset issues people had with this router. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Netgear WGT624 Wireless Firewall RouterStrengths: Easy to set up & get working; Fast speed and help getting security features set up Weakness: Not too much help outside of what comes with the product: ie: the router makes the connection to the internet using your ISP so old settings assume that you are not connected Very easy to get going but somewhat tricky to make entire network working harmonously unless you already have a clue about networking - which i don't. Can not figure out how to share printers on laptops that also have to belong to a domain, for example. Am still getting messages from my desk top assuming that I am not online since I made the connection via my router settings. encripting was fairly easy - i THINK it's working!! Netgear WGT624 Wireless Firewall Router
Strengths: advertising
Weakness: It doesn't work, period. Please see comments
I've never written a review about anything, but my experience with this product was so bad, I needed to share. Perhaps I can save you some trouble. I bought this because of a cnet review lauding the speed. Some user reviews mentioned issues with network stability, but I disregarded. When I hooked it up, it worked great, but after 15-20 minutes, connection lost. I'd reboot the network and its good for another 15-20 minutes. Do you want to have this problem? Anyway, I called support.... hours spent - no result. They sent me a second unit, same problem... I asked for a refund, sorry no go. What? I bought a linksys wireless router, 5 minutes and it's worked since setup.
