How can you not love this movie? I didn't want to give it 5 stars because it's not a perfect film, but I thought about it and realized I had fun every time I saw this film, which is about 10 times. And isn't that what matters? Enjoying the movie even if it's not perfect? "The Princess Bride" isn't far off from being perfect, anyway. Great movie.

Ha! I am laughing just thinking about the movie. I like it because I can watch it with my kids and we all laugh (unlike a lot of other crappy kids movies I can't stand to watch). It's not dirty in any way, and there is some fighting, but it isn't bloody, and the good guys win in the end!

Pretty good movie, a great performance by the underrated character actor Wallace Shawn in particular.Yet, it's also one of those films that is a sleeper that flies under the radar at first, but then everyone starts to talk about it too much and then they consequently overrate it. That being said, it's worth seeing.

I love the Princess Bride and everything about it. The casting was brilliant and I can't imagine anybody playing the parts better than the original cast. Cary Elwes was great as the somewhat dry, intelligent Wesley/Dread Pirate Roberts. Robin Wright was wonderful as the beautiful if not naive Buttercup and all of the supporting actors were amazing. Wallace Shawn was hilarious as Vizzini and he was so mean you just love to hate him. The on set filming gave the movie a sort of charm that can never be captured in a studio. All in all, great film with something for everyone.

This movie doesn't have any famous actors aside from Billy Crystal and Fred Savage (whose parts are very small) but it's great. It's a wonderful story, and while it may seem cheesy (1987 special effects really aren't that good) to today's viewers, it's still a good story. I grew up with this movie and loved it, and many people I know still love this movie.

What a great fantasy movie. Fun and enjoyable for everyone. Slightly on the juvenile side in dialogue and story but not to the point of annoyance for adults. The acting, while not groundbreaking, was above average. Silly and playful are the words I would use for it. An adventure story that has something for everyone. From little girls to mature women, from sons to fathers it sends the viewer on an adventure that rarely lags and is full of very good visuals and interesting characters. So very nice to see this movie rated so highly but odd to see so many negative votes. No matter what age or intellect everyone should enjoy this movie.

My family and I have seen this movie many times. I have read the book as well. A movie like this would never be made today. It is too good. It is too far from being just a formula. Sure there's true love, but there's also a Jewish miracle man who gets into a fight with is wife. This movie is absolutely wonderful.

I thought I would never find anybody who didn't love this movie but then came my brother-in-law I guess he just doesn't like fairy tales. If you require intense serious dialogue and plot schemes this isn't the movie for you. However if you have an imagination and are young at heart you would think this was one of the top ten movies you've ever seen. Swashbuckling, pirates, R.O.U.S., a beautiful princess, a witty hero, a dispicable villian, revenge, Peter Falk, highly quotable lines. What more can you ask for in a movie. How anybody could give this movie less than five stars is INCONCEIVABLE!!!

I absolutely loved this movie. Plot - mmm, not much. Basically Prince Humpardink is after Princess Buttercup ( great names ). And there is a lot of fantasy from there on. Like the ROUS ( rodents of unusual size ) etc. Acting??? - Decent but that is as far as you can go with that. However we do get to see 1 1/2 hours of Robin Wright Penn, and that makes it all worth it. ;-), actually this is a fantastic movie, definitely recommended.

Unconditional recommendation. Very funny, romantic movie. Peter Faulk is great as the grandfather, Cary Elwes and Robin Wright are good as the star-crossed lover; but it's the bad guys who really shine. Hilarious story line with a sweet ending. The only thing that may put people off is the less than beautiful sets and scenery....the giant rats are particulary bad (but try to work past them.).

My favorite film of all time. Rob Reiner shows his genius in this fantasy film about a poor farmboy named Wesley who falls in love with a girl named Buttercup. The story is filled with love, romance, comedy, action and suspense. I feel it is something that can appeal to all audiences. In addition it supports a huge Hollywood cast, including Cary Elwes, Robin Wright Penn, Mandy Patinkin, Andre the Giant, and cameos by Billy Crystal and Carol Kane. This is one of the greatest films ever made in my opinion.

This movie has it all! As the wise, old storyteller says, "it has everything from wash buckling, sword fighting adventure, to true love." It is a powerful story of the bond of love between a boy and a girl and their unshakable quest to protect it. The villains are humorously ludicrous and the movie's tongue-in-cheek humor will keep you interested.

In addition to its profound quotability, Princess Bride is just a great movie. To paraphrase Peter Falk, "It's got romance, swordfights, betrayal, escapes, true love, death, and creatures. What more do you want?" Princess Bride dared to laugh at itself and still be clever. Not many other movies can make that claim.

MGM The Princess Bride

This is the best movie ever made. Robin Wright is beautiful, the puns are excellent, I couldn't say enough about it. It is my favorite movie of all time.

MGM The Princess Bride

There is so much to enjoy about this movie. First of all, it is very true to the book (except the omitted chocolate incident and the added roles of Fred Savage and Peter Falk). Second, Robin Wright makes a lovely and strong heroine. Third, there are too many brilliant character actors in vibrant supporting roles to mention here. Finally, this movie contains one of THE BEST fencing scenes of all time, creatively choreographed and skillfully pulled off.
