Prima Connector Failure
Strengths: It sure is pretty.
Weaknesses: Repeated electrical failure; potential fire hazard.
Summary: We installed a large Prima monorail system; five transformers and about 100' of track; 25 fixtures. The conductive couplers between the track elements are essentially worthless. If you want to use Prima monorail track, don't plan to have a transformer power more than a single segment; it won't last. I understand that Prima have finally re-engineered this part, but won't compensate us for the half-dozen or so that we've had to replace over the past two years.
Bottom line, the stuffs expensive, and maintaining it is more expensive. Cost to performance, I'm certain there's better alternatives. In contrast the cheap track we "hid" above the decorative Prima track (from Home Depot) has been completely trouble free; and cost about 1/4 as much...
