Strengths: 5 watts of power, small size, 3-year warranty
Weaknesses: None noted - good value
Summary: I have used several FRS/GMRS two-way radios over the years – mostly Motorola and Cobra brands. I especially like the extra range provided by the Midland GXT500VP45 watts of power, which is second to none. The sound quality is fair, but not as clear as the Motorola. The radio’s size is small and compact considering its high 5-watt’s of power. This radio is a good value overall, especially when combined with the 2 rechargeable NiMH battery packs, car charger, wall charger, and earbud/microphones. Another selling point for me was Midland’s 3-year warranty. I would definitely buy the Midland GXT500VP4 again.

Strengths: Powerful, long range. Value pack includes convenient extras like rechargareable batteries, charging cradle, and mic headsets.
Weaknesses: Cannot be attached to hand or neck strap. Belt clip only.
Summary: After owning several FRS/GMRS radios over the years, the Midland GXT500VP4 radios are my favorite due to their raw power, long range, and low price. I have owned top of the line Motorola radios, which have slightly better sound quality than the Midlands, but are not as powerful and fail to have the range. For me, I'd rather have higher power (5 watts) and range than slightly better sound quality. These radios are a very good value for the money. Would highly recommend.

Strengths: 3 year warranty - 5 Watts of power.
Weaknesses: None found yet.
Summary: I was shopping for a pair of GMRS/FRS radios for personal use. I have never owned any before this purchase. I started looking at the other brand M but at the end I changed my mind after seeing the 3 year warranty and 5 watts of power in this Midland radio. Who could ask for any more? The VP4 kit includes 2 ear buds with microphones, rechargeable batteries, dual charger, AC adapter and best of all - a DC adapter for use in the truck or 4 wheeler. The menu is very easy to navigate too. I am very satisfied with my choice.

Strengths: Good voice quality, long time for standby
Weaknesses: N/A
Summary: Could add more channels? Some time still get interaction from others. If the product can add more channels, this problem could be solved. Small size would better for catching and holding.
