Strengths: Idiot proof installation, attach the power block, plug in your Cat-5 runs, done.
Weaknesses: This thing gets hot, really hot. Other makes of similar devices have cooling fans while this one does (did) not...
Summary: ...bringing me to the point that 2 days ago it failed, just died. Lights on but no one's home. Not worth the return hastle; ordered a Linksys replacement to match the rest of my equipment. Should have started with them in the first place.

Strengths: easy and faster
Weaknesses: heat
Summary: I have been using it for two months now. The initial setup is fairly easy since I would need to care which port is the uplink port and all 5 ports are equal. This item does get hot in my summer use (room temp. ~78). But so far so good, it is still working. I can also feel that its speed is clearly better than old linksys case 10/100 switch, although I have no accurate measurement.

Strengths: Very easy to set up
Weaknesses: None so far
Summary: The unit is very easy to set up, just plug in the power, that's it. The good thing is that the 5 ports are equivalent, so there is no need to pay attention to the up link connector like those old switches.

The status lights rolled through 5 port during power up reboot.

My unit sits in a central distribution panel with TV, phone and network cables. It did not run any hot compare with my old metal case 10/100 switch.
