2 Star ReviewExcellent Picture Quality, Problem with the DVD player
Strengths: All screen and not much wasted space, excellent picture quality, fits almost anywhere and comes with a built in DVD player with no extra wires to worry about.
Weaknesses: DVD player is temperamental.
Summary: I bought this unit online about a month and a half ago. At that time, there were'nt too many reviews out there but since I liked the look of the model and the price was right for me, I decided to take a chance. I bought it from Digital 1234 and the TV was delivered promptly to my doorstep by UPS. Setting it up was easy. However, the first time I tried popping in a DVD on the side mounted player, it would not recognize the disk. Worse, the DVD was stuck and it would not come out. I thought about calling Toshiba tech support immediately but before that decided to try and "pry" the DVD loose by using another DVD. The "push" from the second DVD resulted in the DVD falling into some kind of groove and it started playing. This is a problem I have faced more than once now. The picture quality and sound is very good. However, I would have expected better quality and finish from a brand name producer.

1 Star ReviewAvoid at all costs
Strengths: lcd and dvd combo is a place saver
Weaknesses: very inconsistent performance for the dvd player
Summary: Unfortunately, the strength of this unit is also its weakness. I bought this unit in November of 2005, and in three months, I had sent the unit back to Toshiba for more than 4 times. The unit spent more time in the warehouse than in my home. The problem occurred when the DVD unit does not recognize a disc; instead of ejecting it, the disc will get stuck in the unit. I have a hella time dealing with Toshiba customer service, they actually told me to keep taking it back until the warranty expired!!! I got so fed up with it that I finally return it through the dealer. It was a frustrating time, considering the amount of money I paid for this unit. The worst part is dealing with the Toshiba customer service that lacks common sense. Avoid at all costs!

2 Star ReviewGood ideas, but poor execution.
Strengths: Integrated DVD player for more convenience/less clutter, several options for I/O, Screen is bright and clear.
Weaknesses: Often doesn't recognize that a DVD has been inserted, Does not automatically adjust for different aspects (e.g. 16x9), Spontaneously shuts off in the middle of a movie.
Summary: I bought this unit because I needed a DVD player that was simple for young children to operate and because I expected a brand name like Toshiba to be reliable. I am very disappointed.

The picture is bright and clear, but the unit is very quirky and frustrating. First, the picture size doesn't adjust to the movie being played automatically, and so I have to look on the DVD case every time to find out what aspect ratio the movie is before I play it. This is a real pain--especially since I bought the thing so that my kids could operate it on their own.

Also, sporadically, the unit will not recognize when a DVD has been inserted--it says there is no disc. The only way I have found of dealing with it is to take another DVD and "push" the initial one in a little further. Not a big hassle, but I expect better function.

Finally, and even more frustrating, the unit will sometimes completely shut off for no apparent reason in the middle of a movie. Every time this happens, I have to turn it on, eject the disc, re-insert the disc, and then find my place in the movie again. If this had been a cheap TV I wouldn't complain, but I spent quite a bit to get a reliable, functional unit. Unfortunately I did not.

I highly recommend that you choose another brand/model.
