2 Star ReviewVery Disappointing Quality
Strengths: Feature Set
Weaknesses: Component Quality
Summary: This unit was purchased new and professionally installed.

It is now just over three years old.

The cooktop/burner parts are easy to clean.

The cook grilles are porcelin over cast iron, however they are not fully coated. This can cause the bottoms to develop a rust coating if not kept very dry.

My largest complaint is with the Oven. The unit seems to break about every year. The problem is that the preheat/temperature control doesn't reach and/or maintain temps.

The cause in both cases is the ignitor assy in the oven which operates the gas value to regulate fuel flow.

The unit has frustrated me completely, as I rarely use the OVEN. It has cost two repair visits at an average cost of 175.00 for parts/labor.

A friend also has reported similiar problems with the OVEN. I am now looking for a NEW OVEN. GE will not be on my list on candidates now or in the future. My letters to GE have gone unanswered and this has sealed my decision.

Try another manufacturer, there is plenty of competition.

1 Star ReviewWaste of Money
Strengths: NA
Weaknesses: 1.When I use the broiler the entire unit becomes hot from the outside. If there are any vessels left on the stovetop, they too become hot. 2. The Oven Door heats from the outside and is safety hazard
Summary: I replaced my old Whirlpool with a GE JGBS23BEHBB 30-in. Gas Freestanding Range and since then every day I curse myself for doing so.

The Metal is extremely thin , so is the over glass.

When the oven or broiler is in use, the entire units becomes hot like a furnace.

I am very dissapointed with this unit and would not consider any other GE appliance purchase.

1 Star ReviewGARBAGE
Strengths: O.K. WHEN IT WORKS.
Weaknesses: OVEN BREAKS DOWN EVERY COUPLE OF YEARS
Summary: THE OVEN WENT OUT TWICE WITHIN FIVE YEARS.I WILL NEVER BUY GE AGAIN.IT'S CHEAPER TO BUY A NEW OVEN AND GIVE ANOTHER BRAND A TRY. GE NEEDS TO IMPROVE PRODUCT.

1 Star ReviewPiece of junk
Strengths: It cooks
Weaknesses: Poor temperature control, Ugly.
Summary: This range is impossible to clean, and ugly. We've had ours for only 5 years and now when you set the oven temp to 375 you get anywhere from 350 to 450 degrees on any given day!!! Doesn't do much for baking, that's for sure. No, I didn't expect something perfect, this oven was in the house when we bought it new, but geez...only 5 years out of an oven?
