Strengths: Easy to use on a basic level with many program functions which can be easily figured out from a cheat sheet on the back of the user manual.
Weaknesses: It is a basic microwave. It is really gray painted (at least the case) not stainless. The door may well have a stainless inlay. For the money it is a deal. This is a nit.
Summary: Those who say the microwave cooks faster than their former models have a point in my book. I had a Sharp 1000 watt model. This one is a 1100 watt model and is a bit smaller -- 1 cubic ft vs 1.1 cubic ft for my old one. You have got to be careful with their preprogrammed settings and with what settings you formerly used for cooking.
I can't tell whether it cooks more evenly than my older model (which was about 10 years old). Perhaps it does. My old one was still working, but the display elements were worn out and it was no longer very fresh inside. Repairing a 10 year old microwave can not be justified.
My old one was a sensor model which stopped cooking on its own by sensing humidity and temperature for certain reheating functions and for popcorn. I vertually never used that function so there was no point in paying extra for that function.
I like all the preprogrammed cooking, reheat, shortcuts and defrost functions built into this model. I look forward to experimenting with them. I expect better results than I have been achieving by guessing.
