Strengths: Very powerful signal strength. I get very good signal strength at places in my house where I only got poor coverage before.
Weaknesses: Does not look as cool as the DGL-4300 gaming router. I guess you can call that a negative, because I really don't have any.
Summary: This is a great router that has all of the functionality that a person with a home network could ever want. It prioritizes VOIP and gaming packets to virtually eliminate lag. Where this routher really shines is it's powerful signal strength. I get great signal strength ANYWHERE in my house. I have ZERO dead spots. For those on a budget that want a spectacular router, the people at D-Link really came through on this one. Keep it up!

Strengths: - Fantastic feature set
- Great range
- VPN passthrough works
- Excellent price
Weaknesses: - Looks chintzy
- dlink support
Summary: This is the fourth dlink router I've tried, and the first one that worked right with my company's VPN program (AT&T Dialer). Not only that, but it has every single feature I was looking for -- excellent range used with older G cards, static DHCP allocations, QoS, etc., etc. If only they would make it not *look* so cheap.

Double Range, I think not.
Strengths: Stronger signal strength than standard Xtreme G DI-624 router. Looks cool too. Laptop wireless G strengths are always excellent.
Weaknesses: Extended range doesn't work so well through multiple floors. Speed isn't really doubled either. Configuration takes very long to reboot and reconnect to gateway.
Summary: 2006-05-13 23:53:12 I purchased this Mimo Router along with the DI-G520M to get the full benefit of 2XR Mimo capabilities. I have to say that it is quite a disappointment. I have the router in my basement since that is the centre of me network, and I have my computer on the top third floor. The signal strength was previously Low (2 out of 5 bars), with the upgrade it is now Good (3 out of 5 bars). To me this didn't warrant the cost of the new router. The only benefit I can see is that my wirelessly networked laptops have seen a huge increase in connectivity.
You will find with this router along with all D-Link routers is that the setup is straight forward. D-link uses a internet based setup routine that is well detailed and even when you click help, it explains what all the options are clearly. I don't think anyone who has a higher than grade 7 education will have any difficulty setting up this device. Be forewarned though, that when applying new settings, it takes up to 2 minutes before the device properly reboots and configures itself. Before I kept thinking that the device had crashed but it just takes forever to restart and reconnect.

Strengths: Signal Strength and Stability
Weaknesses: None - USB print port would be nice.
Summary: Set up took ten minutes and the signal reaches everywhere in my 3000 sq ft home with a signal strength of 80-100%. I replaced an older competitors product and I did not want a "Draft Standard". Excellent internet filters and controls were the drivers for me to switch to Dlink and they work well. A Dell laptop, an Apple laptop and an older IBM Thinkpad with a Linksys PCMCIA Wireless G card all connected wireless and work seamlessly. Two were on simultaneously with excellent performance and the software allows you to see what MAC addresses are connected to the wireless network. Easy to set up WEP and WPA security. (Note: The "WEP phrase" feature in the Linksys user profile had to be deleted and the WEP key enetered directly.) I haven't explored all its features, but at this point I think the Dlink 634M is the best residential router for the money.

Strengths: Fast as hell when using wired or wireless
No lag
Weaknesses: Customer service is lame. Antennas seem a but flimsy/cheesy but works fine.
Summary: This is the second router I've ever owned. The first one was DI-524. The 524 was troublesome to use wireless but acceptable when used wired. There was occasional lag when playing on-line poker. I did like the setup program though. When I saw the new 634m, and that it was on sale, I began my research. I read about the D-Link Gaming routers and liked that the 634m had similar features. Since the 634m is a newer model I also hoped that they had worked any kinks out of the packet prioritization, etc. from the older gaming models. I first got it I couldn't get it to work with my Sunrocket VOIP. The "customer support" wasted hours of my time until I found a user's note on-line re: Gaming Mode. The firmare upgrade made the VOIP work regardless of Gaming Mode setting. I am happy to report that the 634m is like night & day faster than the crappy 524. When used either wired or wireless there is never any lag. Most importantly, on-line speed tests are equivalent to having a single computer connected directly to the cable modem. It is impressive. I don't even have curiosity to try the more upscale gaming routers anymore. This model is just right for my purposes.

Strengths: Signal quality/range. SPEED. Ease of setup.
Weaknesses: None yet.
Summary: This router was extremely easy to setup. Once out of the box and plugged up - it took a grand total of 20 minutes to configure and enable security. Good Net Mgmt software. Distance and speed is fantasic. Highly recommend!

No better than regular 802.11g
Strengths: Easy set up
Weaknesses: Not as good as Netgear WGR614
Summary: I have a few spots in my home that the signal is not as strong as I would like it to be. I have a Netgear Wgr 614 and I thought the Dlink 634m would provide better coverage.
The coverage with the 634m was not as good as the Netgear. Now I only have regular 802.11g wireless usb and card adapters.
So, I guess unless you buy the specific adapter for this router for your computer, you are no better off than regular g wireless.

Strengths: Outstanding signal strength! More options for the firewall than the average user could ever hope to use.
Weaknesses: Price. And also only get full mimo capabilities when used with other mimo divices, not a weakness but wont be any better than a regular router for normal laptop use
Summary: I set this up for my company on the 4th floor of a office building, I had to actually turn the signal power down because I could pick up the network close to a mile away outside of the building. I love the onboard firewall rulesets and clock features. I was able to set it up to only be active during business hours, and with it running wep with the ssid broadcast turned off and hooked into the office firewall only allowing VPN traffic it makes it one of the most hardened wireless networks arround. It definately has one of the best featuresets of any stock wireless routers without having to flash the rom. But unless you are a serious geek or sysadmin it'll take a lot of work to set this one up, not beginner friendly.

Strengths: Easy set up with a MAC, Strong Signal, Smooth Operation
Weaknesses: None I can find at the moment.
Summary: I previously tried to use a router from another manufactuer. Not only was it not MAC compatible but the support staff from this company was very weak and freely admitted thier lack of knowledge about MACS. However, with D-LINK 2XR Mimi Router the set up with the MAC was relatively effortless. When I did have a question the support staff were knowledgable about their product and about the MAC. All in all ths router is worth every penny. I still did not mention the perfect signal throughout my house (I have 3 computers utillizing the wireless connection). Not only would I encourage someoone to buy this router, but I would encourage anyone to buy a D-Link product. Customer support is very important, and these people are tops.

Strengths: 108 mbps, MIMO functionability, quad antena.
Weaknesses: will not support enhanced 22 mbbs.
Summary: Bought this wireless router to replace my aging (but still fully functional) D-Link DI 614+ which used to support up to 22 mbps when combined with enhanced wireless devices. I recently switched to VoIP phone services and this router promised full functionability with it's MIMO capability. So far it has performed as advertised. I have not noticed any major speed increase, however, from my previous 22 mbps wireless devices even when defaulted back to 11 mbps. The range, however, seams to be better. It has a quad antenna set up that appears to be directional in nature, so I tried to position them to the best possible combination, but then noticed that it mattered very little how you placed them, it still works just as good. The set up CD comes with a trial version of Network Magic which I have already activate it. Overall a very nice router.

Might not work with your wireless equipment - do not buy yet!
Strengths: Good signal strength
Weaknesses: Very restrictive, strict on the protocol check, may not work with all your wireless equipment
Summary: My initial impression was very good - signal strength is excellent, simple configuration. Almost everything worked as planned except... POS terminal. Same POS terminal worked just fine with DI-624. I don't know what else might not work with this router, but I feel that QA could do a better job for the firmware. May be they will fix it one day, but for now it's too early to buy.

Strengths: MIMO technology, Xbox Live compability, Easy to configure, and Security settings (WPA)
Weaknesses: Range could be better, slow reboot
Summary: For my purposes, I think this wireless router exceeds my expectations especially in terms of its price. I wanted to upgrade my wireless security and this model features WPA and WPA2. I wanted to have a fast router with good coverage for Xbox Live use which this model supports well. Additionally, I wanted a model which supported fast wireless speeds and this model provides that. And again, the price can't be beat especially with the rebate opportunities at various vendors.

Dlink Router
Strengths: Works decent after I got it up and running
Weaknesses: • Broke my Dlink USB adapter.
• setup is not as userfriendly as my old netgear
Summary: I would not purchase this product again because of what happened with my USB adapter. I paid around 60 dollars for it and it is completely useless because of some kind of conflict. Dlink is unsupportive and a nightmare to deal with. It was so bad that I decided to keep the broken usb adapter so I don't have to deal with them again. They are rude, mean and insulting of my intelligence. I would actually like to return the router too as I can get any product and I am sure it will work equally well or better considering this thing is nothing spectular... unfortunately I purchased it a while ago and basically, I don't feel like dealing with it. I will probably throw my adapter in the trash and continue to use this router until I have another problem & at that point I will buy a different brand. I will never buy Dlink again that is for sure.
