Strengths: Excellent Range, Speed
Weaknesses: None so far
Summary: 2005-07-20 14:23:04 I had one "remote" desktop in a fairly large office environment with multiple floors and stations fairly far apart. I w
as having fits trying to get the WMP54GS to even connect with a WRT54GX router (1 bar, 5.5MBPS). First I tried adding a high gain an
tenna...no perceptible improvement. Then I tried going down the path of adding a repeater (WRE54GX), but after failing to get it to
work with the WRT54GX, I found out from Linksys that version 1.0 (what I had bought)was not compatible with the WRT54GX. Supposedly
there is a newer version of the WRE54GX (version 2.x), but good luck finding it anywhere. Linksys tech support told me they had no w
ireless PCI card available with SRX, but when I talked to the guys at Best Buy in Ann Arbor, Michigan, they told me they had just go
tten them in the week before! The guys at Best Buy knew more about Linksys products than Linksys tech support...go figure. I install
ed the WMP54GX...5 Bars, 108MBPS (faster than the 100 Base T wired connection!). I also picked up about 6 wireless networks in the n
eighboring area, half of them unsecured.
The WMP54GX is awesome, but using it shows you the importance of "locking down" your network, including using encryption, MAC filt
ering, and disabling SSID broadcast, if you hope to have a secure network.

Strengths: Great range, easy setup
Weaknesses: None
Summary: I use this card upstairs to connect to my WCG200 cable modem gateway downstairs. The signal quality and range is great. Setup took just a couple minutes. The extended antenna cable included is also a plus if you do have signal problems.

Linksys WMP54GX Wireless-G 802.11G Desktop Adapter with SRX
Strengths: Good signal strenght when working.
Weaknesses: Crashes Windows XP. No firmware updates.
Summary: This card seemingly worked great the first week I installed it; the signal strength was a little better than the regular Linksys PCI networking cards w/ the single antenna. After one week, XP started crashing (blue screen). After a month of troubleshooting, the problem was narrowed down to the WMP54GX card. I'm assuming that the card isn't very compatible with the Intel motherboard model # D945PSN. All the hardware on my computer has the newest firmware installed, but for some reason Linksys hasn't released any firmware updates for this product (at lest not at the time of this review). I use Linksys products for all my networking & will continue to do so until something better & cheaper is produced.

Strengths: Very impressive looking
Weaknesses: none
Summary: I bought this card to replace an SMC 2662W v.3 USB card which was only getting a marginal 25%-75% connection on a gateway only 30 feet away. The results where outstanding. I can't say enough great things about this card. Still using a WiFi-B gateway I went from a marginal connection with intermittent interruptions to a connection strength of 100% with no interruptions. This card is awesome!

Strengths: Reels in even the weakest signal! The antenna isn't stuck to the back of the computer. 48" cable lets you put your computer under the desk where it belongs.
Weaknesses: None
Summary: 2006-02-13 09:34:18 I originally purchased the WMP54GS desktop card. My signal strength to the router (about 60feet away line with a 4 walls in between) was in the 40% range. I bought the Linksys hi gain antenna ($50!) and gained about 5-10% signal boost which put it at 45-50%. Furthermore, I had to keep my huge tower on top of my desk just to give the antenna a better shot to the signal.
I saw this card last week, and have been dying to try it out. So, I finally picked it up tonight and popped it in. WOW WOW WOW WOW!!! 96% signal!!! You can't get much better than that.
For about the price of a WMP54GS + 7dbi antenna, you can have TWICE the power. All I can say is this is one excellent wireless card!

Strengths: Amazing range and signal strentgh
Many configuration options
Weaknesses: Customer service not helpful
Summary: I would highly recommend this product. I have my computer and broadband connection in my family room. For some reason, in my house the signal doesn't travel outside the room. There is some interference blocking it. I tried many other routers at different speeds, replaced my 2.4ghz cordless phone, used signal boosting antennas, etc. Nothing worked. I bit the bullet and bought one last router before giving up. I fired this baby up and like magic had a strong signal everywhere in the house. It also works great with my son's PSP whereby he can play online games with his PSP anyhwhere in the house. Setup for the PSP was a little difficult. Linksys support wasn't much help. I ended up finding the answers on google and it worked fine. I highly recommend this router to anyone who needs added range or his bugged by weak signals.

Great While it Worked
Strengths: Great while it worked.
Weaknesses: May not be compatible with XP Pro unless you let windows set it up (don\\\\\\\'t use CD setup-just use CD for drivers). Failed after 10-12 months.
Summary: I purchased the SRX Router (WRT54GX) and got this PCI internal adapter at the same time. The router has so far been fine but the card didn\\\'t last long. I removed the card and reformatted my hard drive. When I reinstalled the card, it would not give me anything but a low signal. My laptop, when placed next to the PCI antennae, gave me a Very Strong signal so I know the signal strength to the computer was fine. After calling Linksys twice and trying a number of options, we came to the conclusion the card went bad. I\\\'m going to try the USB adapter but if that fails I\\\'ll try a different vendor.

Strengths: Very good signal
Weaknesses: Network Monitor crashes in Windows XP (so card works great without it anyway) No driver/network utility upgrades.
External antenna
Summary: I bought this card after weeks of frustration with DLink's DWL-520M, which was giving me very low signal in a place where DELL's laptop showed very strong signal.
During installation Network Monitor stably crashes, but if you switch to windows's zero configuration, you don't really need network utility anyway.
It gives stable very strong signal between router at the second floor and card in the basement. Minor inconvenience is an external antenna, which takes some space at your desk. However, given advantages of the card, this is really minor inconvenience.
Very impressive performance.

Strengths: Linksys Name, 3 yr warranty, excellent range, excellent speed
Weaknesses: None as of yet
Summary: Had the card for about a week now. Great item. replaced a netgear one and was amazed. Speed through it is just as fast as the router/my isp can support. Thats what I come to expect from linksys. Easy to install and easy to run. No issues with install, ie drivers were easily installed with disk that came with item. A definite A+ for the product.

Strengths: Very strong connection range, easy installation
Weaknesses: None so far
Summary: After spending the last few months with a connection hovering between "Very Low" and "No Signal" (I live in an old house with the router one floor above me), plugging this new card in instantly gave me an "Excellent" connection. I've had no hiccups in connection ever since. This card is a huge leap from my D-Link Air Plus G. It's like spending the last 8 months driving Fred Flinstone's car and finding yourself behind the wheel of a Porsche 911. Night and day.
