 GE reliability questionable.... 4-service call and still same problem Strengths: Good Looking, lots of controls, sturdy base, good heating elements.
Weaknesses: Design flaws. Quality problem with BURNER on indicator LAMP.
Summary: After doing lots of research, I and my wife finally sattled for this model. We liked smooth handle to open oven door, high power heating element for even heat. Porcelin drip bowls. Smooth knobs, nice and big oven compartment. Big oven glass window. Nice looking. This GE range has sever problem with BURNER ON lamp problem. This lamp is made of cheap plastic, that is not able to withstand heat of lamp itself. Eventually, it melts and crakcs. In last seven months I experienced this problem 4-times. Since this is under warranty, GE promptly replaces. There service departent is OK. They will be ready to fix any problem within warranty. However, getting this repair, someone has to stay home, and this is big hassle.
Design flaw. Control panel is too close to be rear burner. It gets lots of heat, if rear burners are used. Can not use big, wider pan on rear burner. They should have made this pannle little bit higher, skinnier and may be nerrow. If they improve this two flows, I think this could become one of the best range. Until then this is not so good of range. I am looking to replace this before the end of warranty.
