DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT
Strengths: Looks nice
Weaknesses: Defective glass doors on the microwave
Summary: I have a KitchenAid model KEHC309 microwave oven that is part of a combo wall oven. On 12/16/2006, the glass door of the microwave exploded while the lower oven was in use. This unit was a level 13 upgrade in a new Winchester home with an upgrade price of $2,850. The microwave has been repaired twice prior to this latest problem since our settlement in Feb, 2006. Within 2 weeks of settlement the door handle came off. Following that repair and about two weeks later the entire front of the door fell apart. This time we were without the microwave for about a month waiting for parts. Now the glass has shattered. My recommendation is do not purchase a KitchenAid product!
An update from my last post: I submitted a complaint on the KitchenAide web site and was contacted by their consumer affairs department. They agreed to replace the entire oven/microwave unit with a new one. A local company scheduled the replacement for 12/27. They removed the old unit and unpacked the new one to find the door on the new microwave was also shattered! KitchenAide is sending the third unit to the installers. They need to address the underlying issue with either the quality or the design flaw.
