Strengths: Excellent value for money -- under 2 dollars a piece, if you shop around
Weaknesses: None, really. This is a reliable, yet basic (entry level) tape. It wil do the job for most consumer applocations.
Summary: You may have read that with the exception of Sony tapes, all DV tapes are pretty generic, and therefore this entry-level product is pretty much the exact same tape as an equivalent bottom-rung tape from JVC, Maxell, or whoever. That's true. So why buy this particular tape? Sure, you could buy a JVC tape or a Maxell tape, or whatever, if you could find them at this low price. But for me, even through this is a pretty generic product, I feel safer buying a Panasonic branded tape because Panasonic is an excellent, reputable, professional company that wouldn't risk its good name on a crummy product. I do believe that you'll get a slightly more reliable product (higher coercivity, less chance of drop-out, sturdier mechanism) if you buy a higher GRADE of tape (e.g. Panasonic MQ series), but you'll pay more too. Those tapes are more like 4 or 5 bucks a piece. But frankly, this basic tape will suit the needs of most home camcorder consumers, and save some money along the way. Personally, I use MQs for my professional projects which I shoot on expensive cameras, and I use these EJ series tapes for my on-the-fly home movies of my kid playing around and being silly, which I shoot on a cheap JVC camcorder.

Strengths: Works great
Weaknesses: None so far
Summary: Products arrived in about 4 days. So far they seem to be as good as JVC MiniDV tapes that I used before. Can't argue with the low price. Will definitely buy again.

Strengths: really great price. cheaper than any products I saw in Bestbuy
Weaknesses: no, until now. I just tries one pack
Summary: I don't really think that tapes play such a important role. If you have a low end mini dv, you don't need to care about the tapes so much.

Strengths: realy good deal. less than $2/pack. I used SONY tapes before. I didn't see any significant difference between them.
Weaknesses: I haven't find yet:) BTW, the shipping cost is comparable to the tape price:)
Summary: I bought them for my Canon Mini DV camrecorder. I didn't see any significant difference between them and the SONY tapes I used before. But I am just a DV newbie. I cannot do some delicate comparasion.

Strengths: Very good deal for a 6 pack. I would say the cheapest and well know brand - panasonic
Weaknesses: Nothing known of. Probably just that it is not Sony.
Summary: The best deal for DV tapes out there. Even Walmart sells the Panasonic 2 packs for $8-$9. So you will always have a source for this tapes close by. Especially since it is said that you should stick to one brand of DV tapes and not switch between brands.
For 6 DV tapes I had to pay something like $15, plus I batched it up with the stratech firewire card for $18 and did not have to pay for shipping (saved 10 bucks there !).

Strengths: The price for a ME tape is very good. ALso a Metal Evaporated Tape records better and does not damage the recorder head.
Weaknesses: None
Summary: I bought this as a replacement for a JVC MiniDV tape. I have a JVC MiniDV camcorder but the JVC tape does not work well. I used this and the pictures are a lot better. Color rendering is better than the JVC one. I'll gonna buy more of this tape. For the price I bought it, it was a steal.

Summary: I bpught this for panasonic miniDV. Haven't had any problems with it yet and price is also cheaper as compared to other brands like Sony. But I would recommend to go with the same brand as your camcorder.

Strengths: Great Price
Weaknesses: None so far
Summary: I bought this pack to go with a new MiniDV camcorder. I had read a lot of reviews online to try to figure out the best brand, and from what I read they are all mostly the same among the big brands such as Sony, Panasonic, JVC, etc. The only recommendation I read was to buy one brand and stick with it, so it's a good idea to buy a multipack especially because it's cheaper than buying single packs. Panasonic is a well-know brand and this tape has worked well so far.

Strengths: Small, Compact, Cheap, Good deals, Good Resolution...etc...
Weaknesses: None
Summary: Bought for $14.99 at Buy.com with free shipping and combinable with percent off or $$$$ off coupon.
Circuit City or Bestbuy sell these similar tapes for $30 for only 5 packs instead of 6 pack here. Same with Sony or Panasonic Brand that I also bought at the same time to compare the rate and brand.
