2 Star ReviewAvoid Coby
Strengths: Cheap
Weaknesses: See comments
Summary: This is for the DVD-515 model. I guess it is similar to the DVD-514. Bad manual. Troubleshooting section is not very useful. Player is not too responsive to remote. Angle at which remote needs to be pointed at player is very narrow. I had trouble with an improperly set video mode and couldn't figure out frm the manual how to get a picture on screen. Called tech support and some rude fellow told me to press SETUP. Of course, I had done that dozens of times and told him so. It had not worked. Well, his philosophical reply was that there was nothing else to be done since the warranty period was only 90 days. Well, I tinkered for a bit more and got it to work myself. I would say, you get what you pay for, so avoid Coby.

1 Star ReviewA step up from useless.
Strengths: Plays real well if you can get the dvd to play.
Weaknesses: The steps for changing to muti-region are not working. After some minimal use, remote stops sending signals or the player stops receiving them. Manual worthless.
Summary: First off, the remote is a cheaply made and put together piece of junk. And with out it, You're sunk! I bought my player just before Christmas. Didn't even take it out of the box until two weeks ago. I bought it specificaly to play the region 2 dvd's bought in the UK. The manual is absolutely worthless. The only instructions on how to change the region codes was a white piece of paper stuck on the outside of the box with 5 type-written lines on "how to change to multi-region". I tried that about ten times until I got so fustrated that I called the tech support number. He wasn't rude, but he called me "sir" AFTER I gave him my full name. I don't know ANY men with the name "Cassandria". After I told him the problem, we went thru the usual "did you change out the batteries?", "is there anything obstructing the remote signal?", "is the player hooked up as per the manual instructions?", etc, ect...He talked me thru two other possible ways to change to multi-region, but those didn't work either. Then he tells me that he doesn't know what else to do because those steps were the only ones he could find! Now that's SOME tech-support! Then he politely tells me thanks for calling and to have a nice evening. I couldn't even keep him on the line long enough to find out how to get another remote. I guess I'll find that information on my own. I'm hoping that it IS a problem with the remote and try to get another one and try this again. If that doesn't work, then I suppose I'm stuck with a useless devise and find another one. You really do get what you pay for! Either upgrade the remote, fix the player itself, if thats were the problem lies, or stop advertising as a multi-region player. From what I've found out since purchasing this model, I'm not the only customer having these problems with it. I WILL NOT be purchasing any more Coby products in the future. Not at all pleased with this purchase.
