Strengths: Easy to use, always on,
Weaknesses: Linksys tech support
Summary: I have been using for about 2 months with my Xbox. I initially had problems setting it up but calls to linksys tech support didn't help. I finally figured out the problem. The ID of my wireless router was in all caps. The ID of my Linksys adapter was all lower case. Once I changed the linksys to all uppper case it worked perfectly and has ever since. Everytime I get on Xbox live it is on and ready to go, there are absolutely no delays.

Strengths: Wireless gaming setup
Weaknesses: NA
Summary: I've been using this for one year. I didn't have an easy resolution to setup wiring in my entertainment room. So I got this wireless adapter. Once I set it up, i've forgotten about it. My xbox live has been workign great. No lag, no problems.

Strengths: easy setup, does not require manual configuration, can act as a bridge between 2 linksys routers or transparently bridging your PC to the router
Weaknesses: sometimes requires a hard reset to re-establish link an ActionTech router (quest), though I'm not positive its the game adapter
Summary: So far i've used it in every imaginable configuration. I've plugged it into the WAN port of a Linksys router to wirelessly bridge into another router..i've used it also as a wireless NIC..all without having to manually configure it..it automatically runs in transparent mode so its not even "SEEN" by the router or my computer

Strengths: No configuration needed for ad hoc mode and very cheap cost
Weaknesses: Major pain if you want to use it with an access point. Does not work with SSID turned off. Directions are very pore.
Summary: I have over 20 years of computer experience and I currently work for a large insurance company. I have quite a bit of experience with all types of wireless devices.

When using two of them for either Ethernet bridging or in ad hoc mode they work fine. Just hit the button on each device to match the channel on each adapter and you are good to go. That is what these are basically designed to do. They work perfectly talking to each other if you have two or more of them.

If you want to use them to connect to an access point the fun begins. First, for security, most people configure their routers/access points to not broadcast the SSID. Also, many turn on MAC access control to prevent non-authorized adapters from connecting to their network.

I was never able to get the device to connect to a Linksys WRT54G no matter what I tried. Even turning off WEP and all security it would not connect. It did connect fine to an older Netgear WAB102 A/B access point.

Here are some tricks that I found:

1) Does NOT work with the SSID broadcast turned off. You must leave it on.

2) Even though it does not allow you to pick the channel used it will autoscan as long as the WEP and SSID is set correctly for the profile. I used the P1 profile and set the SSID and WEP to match my WAB102. Even though my WAB102 is using channel 11 it scanned and found it. That is why SSID broadcast must be left on.

3) If you are using MAC filtering on your router/access point, you need to first turn it off and get the WGA11B working first. What happens is the WGA11B will use the MAC of whatever it is connected to. So that is the MAC you need to put in you filter list (NOT what is printed as the MAC on the WGA11B Label).

For the $$ (I paid $50 for 2 of them) you can't go wrong. I hope the tricks above help.

1 Star ReviewIt just does not work as its intended. I have gone ...
Strengths: Doorstop.
Weaknesses: Everything else.
Summary: It just does not work as its intended. I have gone through 3 of them. None of them worked. I've tried setting them up on 2 different computers, never worked right. It's a POS all the way.

1 Star ReviewWaste of time.
Strengths: It's very small, and takes up little space.
Weaknesses: Doesn't work.
Summary: I spent around eight hours on the phone over three days with tech support from Linksy, and Microsoft. Neither could get the thing configured, and after a while it became a bounce back game of "Well, the problems on Microsoft's end," and "Well, the problems on Linksy's end."

Horrible experience, and extremely frustrating. I've hooked up countless electronic items through my wireless router before; laptops, PSP, DS, other gaming systems, and none of them have ever been a problem. Too bad Microsoft couldn't make the damn Xbox 360 wireless for the $400 I paid for it.

Luckily I only paid $30 for the Game adapter, seeing as it went in the garbage.

1 Star ReviewGood HW - No Support
Strengths: Not sure
Weaknesses: Linksys refused to support this out-of-warrenty product (even though is was new) without paying a $29 support fee. I am heavy into networking and have a house full of Linksys (owned by CISCO Systems)a
Summary: Companys are really messing up... export manufacturing and support to India were there is little incentive for the people to solve your problems unless they are paid to do it. My experience has been that when you do pay, they still can't help... When a customer buys a product they have paid for all the support they need to get the product to work as advertised If it costs the company too much to support a product it is because the product package (hardware, software, installation instruction, etc) was not well engineered and the company should loose money on it. The product I bought was in the original sealed packaging and boldly labeled "FREE 24/7 TECHNICAL SUPPORT" and that is what I expected to get. Companies should support products in new installations no matter how old the product is. They should sell customers on new products by adding features and improvements not by shutting off support for older products!
