2 Star Review Conected quickly and easily to my D-link DI-624 w ...
Strengths: Cheap since it was only $10 with a $10 rebate so actually it was FREE - and easy to screw old antenna out and this one in
Weaknesses: Not much gain and cable too short at 1-2 feet. Hawking Support Site is not too good - email only.
Summary: Conected quickly and easily to my D-link DI-624 wireless router - just unscrew the existing antenna and screw this cable in.

Helped a little bit but I ended up getting the Hawking corner antenna which is rated at 15dB gain and is made for large rooms to fit in a corner. This corner antenna worked much better for me to connect from the 2nd floor of my home to the bottom floor.

Also I got the Hawking HWC54D network card with an antenna that seemed to help me more than anything. Especially when combined with the 15dBi corner antenna. Now I can go out in the backyard and use my laptop with the router located on the 2nd story front bedroom.

I was disappointed in this 6 dBi antenna. So you might want to make sure that you can return it before you buy it because it may or may not work according to the feedback here.

Good Luck,

John San Antonio

Strengths: Inexpensive. Decent quality for the price. Better than standard "short-stick" antennas. Can be used on Routers/Access Points or Network Interface Cards (NIC).
Weaknesses: Not a miracle maker! Same performance as comparable antennas from other manufacturers.
Summary: For a measily $10 investment I successfully increased my wireless reception by approximately 5dB over the stock antenna on my Network Card. Catch is that a similar Belkin antenna did the same thing.

What's happening?! Well, the "upgraded" antennas from Hawking and Belkin improved the signal because of one very detail: they're corded. By moving the antenna a good two feet from all my electronics and onto a window ledge, I eliminated two major factors in poor wireless performance. First, removing electronic interference from computer components greatly improves the performance of antennas in very close proximity. Second, a wireless radio signal has a much easier time penetrating windows in comparison to walls. (My access point was positioned across from it in another room's window ledge.)

So if you're teetering on the edge of performance levels, then doing something similar will probably improve your Wireless performance. However, I am assuming that you will be able to position the corded antenna well. If you already have a corded antenna and the performance is still poor even after positioning it in the best spots, then just overlook the rest of the omni-directional antennas in the price range and get a directional antenna instead.

Bottom Line: For the money it's a good investment over the regular short, stock antennas that come with Wireless Access Points and Network Cards. However, its performance is comparable to other similar, 4-6dBi Hi-Gain antennas from other manufacturers. If it's priced the same or less than the competition, then buy it; otherwise, go with a competitor's antenna.

Strengths: Easy to add to D-Link DI-624 Wireless Router. Did increase signal strength somewhat.
Weaknesses: Only obtained minimal gain in the signal range. Gained about 8-feet in highly obstructed environment. Range extension is much better in low or unobstructed environment.
Summary: Good for certain environments to increase signal strength where signal is present but weak. Not necessarily an ideal solution for extending a signal to areas that are not currently receiving any signal from a wireless router using the manufacturers original antenna.

Strengths: Working good with D-link DI-624 wireless router.Easy to install.
Weaknesses: Not suitable for every brand of wireless routers.Sometimes it is worse after using this antenna.
Summary: It is still need to be improved the stability for the signal and should work fine for any brand of wireless routers.Besides,it is a good product, anyway.

Strengths: Increased distance and link quality, just like an antenna is supposed to. Easy hook up to a Linksys router.
Weaknesses: None
Summary: This is a non-amplified, omni-directional, 2.4GHz, wireless antenna. It works with 802.11B and G. I, personally think that the range and link quality increase is very acceptable for this antenna. I hooked it up because my roommate was not getting a good signal, let alone a signal at all, at times. My only other option was to move the router out of the room it was in and into a more centralized room. Since I didn't want to move my router away from my server, I purchased this antenna. Hooked it up in less than a minute and the problem was taken care of without having to move my router.

Try it, it is very inexpensive. If not, return it and purchase an amplified antenna to get that extra distance.

Strengths: Increase wireless signal coverage area and connection sability.
Weaknesses: Cable is too short.
Summary: 2004-12-30 10:55:17 After using the antenna for about a month, I would say it is pretty good at its price. Before I purchased this product, my Netgear 108g router couldn't reach one of the rooms and the connection was not stable at certain area of the apartment. After hooked up the antenna, I can use my laptop in every room with much stable connections. Even more, my neighbour is able to pick up the signal and share my HSI bill. Though I don't know exactly how much stronger the signal is and how much bigger the wireless coverage area is than before, I can definitly tell the difference. So if you have problem with connecting you wireless router due to weak signal, The Hawking antenna worth the price.

Strengths: Sharp design, really easy connectivity
Weaknesses: No weaknesses
Summary: I have a client with a really difficult connection, the rooms full with books and bookcases make the wireless connection really weak, specially with the little antenna from the PCI card under the desk.

This device was the heavenly solution, just plug and rise from over the books and I am getting a 20% or 30% more signal!!

This save me! Thanks guys!! A really usefull device.

Strengths: Slightly improve the strength and stableness of signal.
Weaknesses: No so powerful as it claims on package.
Summary: I use the antenna with my wireless PCI card. It does improved the signal reception a little bit. However, the position and direction of the antenna affects the reception a lot. It is not that amazing as I thought. But it worth the price.

Strengths: The signal reaches a bit further (10ft) outside the house.
Weaknesses: This device is not compatible with my new routers and access points. It is only compatible with my LinkSys 802.11b router that I am going to sell now that I have 802.11g technology.
Summary: Only 1/4 of the access points/routers have attennas that are detachable. So the rest of my equipment cannot use this item. I actually need to sell the old router and I will no longer have use of this item. Make sure you have an expensive router that has detachable attennas.

Strengths: Inexpensive, does not require external power, wall-mountable, improves link quality
Weaknesses: weird coloring (part black part beige, suits neither system color), does not improve the reach of the signal by much, unless you use 2 of these.
Summary: I have bought two of these antennae and attached one to my router the other, to 2nd PC two rooms away. While the link was considerably improved, the signal strength did not improve by much, I checked with my laptop, and there was only 5-6 meter gain to normal reception area.

Strengths: Easy to setup and add to wireless network. Did increase the distance and signal strength.
Weaknesses: The increase in signal strength is not significant.
Summary: This product is a wireless antenna that's non-amplified and omni-directional. It supports both 802.11b and 802.11g. It does increase signal strength, but not a big help for areas that were not receiving any signal at all in the first place.

It's a good product for the price.

Strengths: Easy to install, increased signal strength on my Linksys WPC54GS Router, reasonable price
Weaknesses: Don't expect great range if you plan to use only 1 of these antennas
Summary: In my house I've installed my Linksys WPC54GS router in the basement and my signal strength on my notebook when I work upstairs is 1 to 2 bar range the most with certain areas at 0 bar. After installing this antenna I've noticed that more areas of the house I would get 2 to 3 bars which I've never had before and there are NO dead areas. Installation is a snap since it only requires you to use the included adapter to screw into my router. One of the factory antennas on my Linksys had to come off for this to install.

So far I don't have any issues with this antenna besides that fact that it still DOESN'T allow me to get a signal in my backyard. Instructions indicate that to get optimum signal you would also need ANOTHER antenna on either your desktop or notebook...and in my case I can't add another one of these antennas on my Dell Inspiron 700m since my wireless card is built-in to the system and there is no way to hook it up externally.

I would RECOMMEND this item to anyone that might have poor signal on their wireless setup and want to increase that a bit. It wouldn't be a major improvement over stock but any improvement is better than none. Price is also reasonable enough to invest in one for the house.

Strengths: Quick install with no issues noted during install.
Weaknesses: Was not able to increase signal strength as I hoped it would to parts of the house, where the signal continued to fade. Used with a D-Link DI-624.
Summary: Thought this item would assist in strengthening my signal outside of a home office. Could not get a continuous signal to those parts of the house that I had issues with before installing this equipment. Sorry, but would not buy again, even with rebates.

Strengths: Very inexpensive. I got this on a Black Friday sale along with rebates that brought it down to $10. It was very easy to install and it did improve the signal.
Weaknesses: Silly me for not checking if my Belkin router had removable antennae...it didn't. I had to screw it into my PC wireless card.
Summary: Because of the router not having removable antennae, it's not being used for what I purchased it for which was to improve the signal coming from the router. But it is solving a problem I had with low signal strength to my PC. This was a cheap antennae...$9.99 after rebates and Black Friday sale. For that amount of money....you can't go wrong.

Strengths: The Hawking antenna is very easy to setup and the included hardware makes it easy to adapt to any wireless hub. Quite a good gain after I hooked it it up.
Weaknesses: The range is definitely affected by the placement of the antenna. Make sure you put it in a fairly open area.
Summary: Very good overall gain for a inexpensive device. A lot of it has to do with the wireless router you have setup. Since its omnidirectional make sure you have WEP enabled since the range is well increased.
