Strengths: after three macs and two pcs , including a Pentium 3 as well as a 4,a G3, G4, and now this G5, this is the best computer I've had. Fast, with an excellent intuitive operating system (Mac Os 10.3).
Weaknesses: Apple Cinema Displays excellent but expensive.
Summary: If you like making home movies and burning DVDs, in my opinion there is no other computer that is as fast and as simple to use.

    Product Experience:
    3 Weeks
Strengths: Fast. Easily expandable (nice case design). Excellent Mac OS 10.3 software. Large internal hard disk (160 GB). Plug-and-play usability. Ready to go out of the box.
Weaknesses: Tower case is very large and rather heavy. No SCSI support in standard configuration.
Summary: I am a long time Macintosh user, but I also use a PC (Windows XP). I decided to take the plunge and upgrade my Mac from a G4 to a G5, and simultaneously to make the leap from Mac OS 9 to Mac OS 10. I have not been sorry so far.

This Mac G5 is a pleasure to use! Very fast and zippy. Mac OS 10.3 came already installed (I assume that PC Connection upgraded the OS?), and it has taken a little getting used to, but I have not had any major problems making the transition from OS 9. I also really like the way an OS Upgrade button is built into the system such that one can click and find out if there are any upgrades available (even in the few weeks I have had this G5, there have been 3 minor upgrades to get up to 10.3.4). Also, having Mac OS 10 built on Unix really makes the system rock solid. I have had applications crash, but the system goes on happily.

I have several SCSI devices on my former Mac that will no longer work with this new G5 (no SCSI ports), but I had no problem transferring my files from the old SCSI hard disks to this new Mac's hard disk simply using File Sharing over ethernet.

I decided to buy this 1.8 GHz single processor G5 (discontinued model) instead of the 1.6 GHz G5 for a couple of hundred dollars less because this model comes with a much larger (160 GB) hard disk, and of course is a bit faster. Much better cost/benefit ratio on this model.

I highly recommend this Macintosh G5.

Strengths: LOTS OF POWER AND VERSATILITY
Weaknesses: NONE THAT I KNOW OF.
Summary: I PURCHASED THE MAC COMPUTER BECAUSE I NEEDED A POWERFUL COMPUTER TO PREFORM FILM EDITING WITH. IT IS SAID TO BE A GREAT COMPUTER TO DO CINEMA CUTTING WITH. FROM THE STATS I SEE ON THE INFO CHARTS THE WORD OF MOUTH IS ALL CONFIRMED; I WOULD RECOMMEND THE COMPUTER FOR THIS USE.
