Weaknesses: When I ordered my DVD drive,they had a picture on the side like a retail box. I made a misstake.I did not checked the type of the package.That was BULK.Where is my software? Summary: I really picked this drive for the look.I love the look of it.This is the first time I building a computer and I picked the black color.I checked so many DVD drives and the half of it reads CDs on 40X.The memorex DVD drive reads CDs on 48X ! 33% of People (1/3) found this review helpful. Weaknesses: Spin up time lacks, takes a few seconds to max on speed for CD or DVD. Summary: This drive is acceptible at best, and worth the money. Yet the spin up time for me lacks takes a few seconds and which can cause errors in the read process within windows or can cause a Buffer Underrun error when burning to another drive. Would not suggest for gamers, since the disc needs to spin constantly. If you have this drive or plan on purchasing take this into effect before hand. I would suggest Nero Speed Tester as it has a built in spin down application which you can keep the drive spinning for extended periods of time. Be carefull though you may lesson the life of the drive in the process. Overall a very good product. At the time I was looking at a Combo Drive of theirs as well. Weaknesses: Sometimes fails to detect cd/dvd in the drive. Also the spin up time is long and in some cases causes a failure in cd or dvd detection. Summary: This an okay dvd rom drive. My only complaint that it sometimes fails to detect the disc once it is inserted. This can get annoying if you are constantly changing discs to play music and other files.
