Strengths: large viewing area, great picture, great features, nice presets.
Weaknesses: i had to use a tiny bit of lotion to get the base on. yes, lotion, dont think i would have got the base on otherwise.
Summary: i searched the internet for hours and hours reading reviews, learning about monitor technology, comparing prices. finally i visited a few stores to see monitors in action, compare brands, mess with the options, and see how good i could get the picture to look. i finally decided i was getting a samsung. the price, 22" size, and features like 20,000:1, and a rebate convinced me on the 2233BW and i am so happy with this monitor. it is to date the best monitor i have ever owned. the picture is superb. it came with both a dvi and vga cable, cleaning cloth, & cable tie. the screen is a full 22" viewable(diagonal measurement,) approx 11 3/4" tall(viewable,) and approx 18 3/4" from left to right of viewable area. the samsung 3 year warranty was another positive selling point. i was living in fear of installing the base as i am disabled and almost every review i read had trouble with it. at first i tried my hardest and could not get it to pop in place so i did as some others had suggested. i placed a Tiny amount of Aquaphor(lotion) on each side of the ball area. a very small amount did the trick, it snaped right in. thanks all of you that mentioned that! driver installation & setup was easy with the cd-rom provided and software. be aware that the MagicTune Premium software suite can be a bit tricky. for example at first using the magictune software, in the picture settings, then magicbright settings, i had selected "dynamic contrast," and that made many of the other settings, like brightness, contrast, etc., to be "Not Available," apparently the Dynamic Contrast setting automatically adjusts itself based on what is on the screen, but when i switched to custom or one of the other presets all the other settings became available again. there is a decent selection of presets you can choose from like Text, Movie, Game, etc. the cd-rom also come with Natural Color Pro, software that helps you calibrate the monitor, adjust the color, make & save profiles for your monitor. there is also a MagicWizard feature within the MagicTune software that will also help you configure the monitor in a few easy steps. the monitor is also easy to look at, the overall design is slightly elegant yet not enough that it will distract you away from the screen. i have done a bit of everything i use my computer for, watch videos, play games, surf the web, etc., and am 100% pleased with this monitor. i have seen graphics in games i've played for years that i never knew were there. i initially set this monitor up in duel-monitor mode with my 19", but my old monitor is just too inferior, i dont want to look at it any more. i am using the DVI connection. DVI is a digital connection, while VGA is analog. this monitor allows for both dvi and vga, and it allows duel-input with easy switching of inputs. if your computer has a DVI port option use it for best picture quality over VGA.
