Strengths: Outstanding picture quality, great contrast, HDMI connectors, HDCP compatibility for future DVD recordings, easily connect to PC, good video switching
Weaknesses: Speaker quality could be improved.. Back Connectors need to be vertical, rather than horizontal for easy wall mounting..
Summary: Impressed with the overall quality of TV.. came in well packaged for the shipping.. easily connected and working.. HD quality is superb.. Wanted to buy Panasonic and could not find one in stock on line.. I think this is just as good...

Strengths: Shape allows unit to fit into limited older entertainment centers. Color, sharpness and clarity. Easy interface. Reliable brand name. 60,000 hour rated life!!! (9th generation plasma).
Weaknesses: Unit, like many plasma TVs get very hot and give off alot of heat from the top of unit (kid concern). Base doesn't swivel or move. Limited amount of analog inputs in rear of TV (for older components)
Summary: When looking for a replacement to our deceased Toshiba projection TV (less than five years old requiring a $400 convergence repair), we decided to go with the times and look at flat panel TVs. To maximize the space available, we believed we could go with a 50" set. However, at this point in time, LCD sets are not made that large (yet). Besides, LCD sets are generally more expensive. From our research, we learned that unlike earlier plasma TVs, the newest generation of plasma sets actually last as much as the older CRT sets (I believe this set is rated for actually 60,000 hours of use). This was a huge draw-back in earlier models and precluded us in looking at plasma sets altogether (unless you like expensive short term investments). Also, the price of plasma sets have dropped dramatically in the last couple of years. When comparing the sets, features and the sort, including the limited space we had to put the unit in, we concluded that for the money (we purchased the unit for $3,199.00), this set was for us. We have not upgraded to HD as of yet, however, but I am sure that once we do sometime in the future, we will really appreciate the ability of this set.

Strengths: * Brilliant picture.
Weaknesses: * Tuner not great. * Computer hookup hard.
Summary: This TV has a stellar picture. When buying this TV, we looked at it next to all the competitors in person, and it won by a lot. It's beautiful looking. The sound is fine (but we bought it for the picture, get an audio system if that's what you care about).

The OTA tuner isn't great. There are some "clay" problems -- people's faces sometimes get a bit blocky. It's definitely a problem with the tuner -- with other sources, the problem isn't there. Watching DVDs over component/HDMI looks great.

If you want to hook it up to a computer (HTPC), I think you can probably do better elsewhere. Hooking it up over VGA, you get three columns of pixels of gray on each side of the picture. With DVI (HDMI) and component hookups, you get overscan. VGA gives a great picture, if you're willing to live with the gray bits.

This TV doesn't have great audio inputs. If you use VGA input, you can only do 1/8 inch audio. There are no digital audio inputs (besides HDMI).

1 Star ReviewSent it back
Strengths: Good price
Weaknesses: Poor quality
Summary: Poor sound, blurry picture couldn't get it sharp. Samsung technaical support could not solve problem over the phone. The asked me to return it to dealer. Dealer gave me credit and I bought another (non-Samsung) which I am very happy with. This whole think was a big pain. I sent it back and bought another brand.
