Strengths: Compact, rugged, lightweight, expandable and simple. When plugged in to usb it, device functions as a drive. SD memory slot. Uses 1 AAA batery and goes forever, still on the battery that came with the player.
Weaknesses: It simplicity is also its major weakness. Not as much wow factor as a ipod. Included armband is a bit tacky.
Summary: Has several DSP sound modes like flat, rock, jazz... Two line display shows title of the file. MP3's sound quite good compared to my Dell Axim X5 PocketPC. Overall a very nice basic MP3 player. Good for excersizing or and tranfering files from home to work. SD card expandability a big plus, but still won't hold an music library of significant size.

3 Star ReviewGreat Product
Strengths: Great sound Quality. Love It
Weaknesses: To get the player to play the songs in an order you want you have to program it to read the song tracks, such as song one has to be 0001 then if you want another song after that you have to program it by the numbers 00010
Summary: Great over all have to program it weard though, but overall I would recomend it to others have to get going I hate your 30 word min. It sucks I can't thing of anything elce

Strengths: Nice design for one handed use. Dropped it a couple times and it seems fine. The SD card expanditure is nice especially if you want to put more than music on it. Nice battery life.
Weaknesses: No LED light, and armband is crappy. And the battery cover seems a little flimsy
Summary: the ppl who say they can't delete files are full of it. It works just like one of those thumb flash drives. You dont need a driver if u have XP. So just stick it in and it shows up as Drive E, and if there's a SD card in it that shows up as Drive F. If yopu do have problems just format the thing. The only problem I had was using "Duracel Batteries for Digital Cameras" If the battery life got to low the Lyra would freeze up when reading the SD card, but not the normal memory. Other batteries seem to work fine tho. BTW buy a 512 SD card, it is rumored that it cant read an entire Gig memory card. What i really hate tho is theres no light so im going to try to install one myself. Other than that everything seems fine. The features on it are nice, but putting stuff in order can be cumbrtsome. The USB cord seems fine but it would be nicer if it was built in. however before buying, chechk out the Mobliblu Cube. that thing is sweet, but i still like my lyra better b/c it fits oh so nicely in my pocket, I hate wearing jewelry.

2 Star ReviewRCA Lyra RD1076 512MB MP3 Player
Strengths: The sound quality is excellent and it has a nice compact size and easy to read display.
Weaknesses: I encountered a lot of problems deleting tracks. Not only did it not delete the tracks I selected, it overwrote some of the tracks I have programmed. The manual is also a bit confusing.
Summary: I purchased this because I was looking for something compact and not very sophisticated since I am not looking to download a lot of files. Aside from the excellent sound this product provides, I am terribly disappointed because after a month of using the device, I have been unsuccessful in deleting certain songs. I keep receiving error messages that do not provide explanations and when you refer to the "FAQ" site, it really doesn't provide you with a lot of help as far as troubleshooting is concerned.

3 Star ReviewRCA Lyra 512 Meg MP3 Player
Strengths: Very good sound, long battery life, nice display.
Weaknesses: Hard to find a desired song, you have to repeatedly press the forward or backward key to sequentialy search for the song.
Summary: Another reviewer said that only partial space is available on a 1 gig SD card. I have the 512 Meg version Lyra and when I plug in a 1 gig SD card the card is not recognized at all, (512 and smaller worked fine). Another problem is the unit has a tendency to 'lock-up' and the only way I've found to recover is to remove and replace the battery.

And for the reviewer that doesn't know how to delete files - select one file, or hold the Ctrl key to select more files, then hit the Delete key.

2 Star ReviewI'm not very computer literate, but I got it to wo ...
Strengths: Easy to read display, compact size, buttons are easy to manipulate, good sound quality, good ear phones
Weaknesses: At this point no means of deleting entered tracks, navigating is difficult, you can overite tracks, no back light
Summary: I'm not very computer literate, but I got it to work and the store tracks. Haven't been able to use the sd slot, due to my reader not working at this time. If a tech would ever return my email, that may help in resolving my inability to delete tracks. I don't know if this is a good feature, but you can store tracks on it then select from those tracks, tracks to place in a play list. The RD 1076 makes it difficult to do.
