Strengths: Small size, solid bass, easy control and a perfect meet for apartment-size living rooms.
Weaknesses: The standby is not so sensitive as the spec mentions.
Summary: 2004-11-25 20:13:14 This small subwoofer works very well with my JVC EX-A1 mini system . Its power of bass is very strong and feel quite elegant compared to its price. This powered subwoofer with a modest AV receiver adds an integrated, smooth, enjoyable bass to my system. This kind of improvment is really what I was searching for from a subwoofer.

Strengths: Excellent Value. Great controls. Two year warranty.
Weaknesses: None seen yet.
Summary: This subwoofer has greatly enhanced the sound of both my movies and my music. The line connectors make it easy to conect to any set of stereo speakers or any receiver.

The controls allow for full adjustment, optimising cound. Once adjusted, you merely need to adjust your TV or Stereo volume only.

Strengths: Compact size, easy to connect, easy to adjust, good overall performance.
Weaknesses: None found.
Summary: I was looking for a compact subwoofer to enhance my home office audio system. Since I was not looking for a power house subwoofer for this application my reasearch lead me to the Yamaha YST-SW215. This unit delivers solid low end performance at lower volumes. Perfect!! The down firing speaker design is also more than adequate to produce deep rich crisp tones at crank it up volumes. This small but powerful unit is everything I was looking for. I was actually supprised at its performance vs price. I recommend this unit for sound quality reinforcement.

Strengths: good price, nice sounding bass, Yamaha brand name
Weaknesses: standby settings doesn't seem to work well, only comes in black
Summary: After the subwoofer in my Sony HTS in a box went out, my wife and I looked for an inexpensive replacement. Always looking for a good excuse to upgrade, I wanted something a little more dangerous than the 100w power sub that came with my Sony HTS, but couldn’t quite convince my wife that we needed to a get an entire new system. We narrowed our choices down to the Sony SA-WM250 and the Yamaha YST-SW215. The pros of the Sony SA-WM250: closely matched the 100w sub that we were replacing, has a min frequency response of 20Hz, a cost of $69... cons of the Sony SA-WM250: too close of a match to the 100w sub we were replacing, and the $69 cost did not include the $20 shipping charges. We decided to get the Yamaha as it offered more power (150w) and its $99 cost (with free shipping) was only $10 more than the underpowered Sony. Summary great sub for a c-note!

Strengths: Deep bass, unit not position sensitive and the autoswitching feature is very convenient.
Weaknesses: None noticed
Summary: 2005-04-26 07:01:05 The adjustable frequency cutoff and volume controls add an easy way to balance the unit to the room that it is in. The bass is excellent for a unit this size and the autoswitching power on/power off is a convenient feature.

Strengths: Size & sound, easy to set-up
Weaknesses: auto cut-off seems to be very sensitive
Summary: Overall I love the sub. Size was a critical factor to me and it fits perfectly into my room and adds great depth and bass to my surround system. The front controls make adjustments easy.

Strengths: Great match with small satallite system such as Polk RM 6005.
Weaknesses: User controlls and binding posts could be higher quality.
Summary: 2004-09-30 15:25:07 This little sub makes a great match with little Polk satallite HT speakers. This is not a earth shaking sub. It is a small sub (more like a regular bass driver really) to complement a modest home theater system. It has a smoother, less boomey sound then the small front firing Polk subs. This sub combined with a modest (50 watt/ch or so) AV receiver and a set of Polk satallites make for a very well integrated, smooth, enjoyable home theater. This kind of system is a world of improvment over TV speakers. It is not a system to fill a large space with a booming home theater extravagansa. However, in a smaller room (my room is 12x14) it provides all the punch and extension I was looking for. Extension is quite good, well into the 30's in my room. The bottom line: It is less sloppy and better integrated with little speakers than others in its class.
