Strengths: The appearance is quite nice. The style of the refrigerator is most convenient
Weaknesses: NA
Summary: I will never recommend another Maytag product. The compressor on the refrigerator part of the product went out after 2 months. Subsequently,the same unit has gone out 3 months later.

After speaking with Maytag and their agreeing to replace the unit, 10 days later I still wait, living out of an ice chest. The customer service department was "sorry for the inconvenince" with no offer to expedite.

Understanding these things happen, I will not understand the lack of customer service.

1 Star ReviewMoney and Time Wasted.
Strengths: Design, interior space.
Weaknesses: Prone to breaking down.
Summary: My wife and I bought this refridgerator October 2005, and in January, the fan broke, causing the fridge portion to stop cooling. Our food was wasted, and it took over 1 week for a repair main to come. He came, had to order a new fan which took another 5 days.

It is now July, 6 months after it was repaired, and it is experiencing the same problem. We have just bought food too. Beware of the fridge, and the company service as well.

2 Star ReviewAt least it is still under warranty...
Strengths: LOVE the french door, bottom freezer style.
Weaknesses: Water dispenser failure, deli drawer door falls off.
Summary: I purchased this refrigerator in November 2005. In December the water dispenser failed. The water was freezing inside the line and not dispensing water. When the repairman came out and had the door open for half an hour, warming the fridge up significantly, the line cleared and the water started flowing again. I was told it was "fixed" but the line was frozen again by the next morning. Maytag decided to replace the damper, but it took a month to come in. So January 2006 I got a new damper for the fridge and I have used the water dispenser daily until today. It is now almost October 2006 and the same thing is happening again - the water is not dispensing although ice is still being made in the ice maker. Then I went to the Maytag website to check my warranty status and look at getting extended warranty as it seems I will need this part replaced at least once, likely twice per year, and their website does not recognize this model number! It seems that this fridge now is model number MFD2561KES, instead of MFD2561HES (which makes no sense!) I am not happy to have this same problem repeat itself nor am I happy that their website does not recognize the model number that is written inside my fridge.

On another note, the deli drawer door is constantly falling off of the 'pins' that are supposed to hold it in place (the pins are not nearly long enough). This is easily fixed, but very frustrating to be fixing all the time.

I do love the french door design and the deli drawer itself, as well as the built-in ice maker. But I would hesitate to buy another Maytag.

2 Star Reviewmy refrigerator problems
Strengths: looks good, the freezer has always worked
Weaknesses: the refrigerator hasn't always worked
Summary: I purchased my refrigerator in Sept. 2005. 2 months later, in November, the fan that blows cold air up to cool the refrigerator quit working - meaning I had a functional freezer, but no functional refrigerator. Now, 20 months later, it has the same problem. I was told it was an evaporator and control board problem. Upon some internet research - it appears I'm not the only one to have had these problems with the exact same refrigerator.

And, at least with my local Maytag repair center, they don't carry these parts on the service trucks to fix your fridge - their technicians come to assess to the problem, order parts, and fix it 2+ days later - meaning if your fridge breaks on a Friday like mine did, you have to wait a week to have a functional one.

Knowing what I know now, I wouldn't have purchased this product. I hope you don't make the same mistake I did - go spend your $2000 on something that doesn't break down within 2 months of purchase. And if you do decide to, spend the money on the extended warranty - it'll be worth it.

Summary: I bought this in 2005 and ever since only problems. First the water pipe froze and we got taht repaired an dthen the moaning noise and they said we can keep very minimal amount of food!!! and then the fan in the refrigerator unit broke and would not cool and now again the fan in the freezer unit broke and fridge wont cool and every time i end up spending so much moeny wasting food and buying food and also living out of a cool chest . EDven the technician says that this fridge stinks.

Summary: the fridge just went out of warranty - easy use, no kids or anything hard as far as use. the motor that blows the cold air into the fridge part went out. for such an expensive item, for this to fail after 5 years is horrible.
