Strengths: Very nice throaty tones. Good feature set for the money.
Weaknesses: None noted.
Summary: I like the Standby Mode feature. Prevents from having to turn the power switch completely off. Also, you can see the status light from a distance and are able to determine when the system detects a signal.

Strengths: Very musical. Easily tailored to suit most any application. Terrific for filling in the bass lines that are sometimes lost in large areas.
Weaknesses: None that I have found yet.
Summary: Although I already had 2 Phase Linear 400's pushing Kenwood 999Z's times four, the room was large, (18 by 30) and I was looking to add some additional air pressure. This sub did the trick. You can adjust it to only hit on the lowest frequencies and then how hard to hit them as well. Power on/off standby works flawlessly. Now I can listen at a much lower level. Before the sub, I had to bring up the power to get the bass line. Now I can idle the 400's pretty much and enjoy a comparable musical experience. When the need for speed hits however, the Yamaha performs very well right along with the rest of my gear and the place just comes apart. Like as mentioned in another post. If you are looking for earth shattering bass, this is not for you. If you want a sub that hits good and doesn't sound like it is ready to fly apart, can be infinitely adjusted and just fills the room with low end, this is for you. You can't go wrong for the money.

Strengths: Good value. As far as subs go, this one is quite "musical" i.e., audiophiles use the term to describe good dynamic range and response rather than thump thump thump
Weaknesses: None really.
Summary: Look no further for a foundational element to your music listening and AV surround system. I use the Yamaha primarily for music listening. It's accurate and with good crossover control - does not flood your existing setup with muddy low end noise if you set it up properly.

Strengths: Non-distorted DEEP bass.
Weaknesses: None, for the price.
Summary: I compared this item to all other units in it's price range before buying. I never listened to any subs before buying, but researched many reviews online. I ordered it from etronics whithout ever hearing the unit. This sub sounds INCREDIBLE for the price, and is probably worth double what I paid for it! I've owned 2 subs before, an M&K 10 inch from 1989, and and AudioSource 10 inch that' about 5 years old. This Yamaha sounds better than either of those units... deeper bass, and more accurate.

Strengths: One word "AWESOME". Low down, DEEEEEEP bass that you can feel.
Weaknesses: NONE!
Summary: Outperforms all sub's in its price range. And some at double the price. Compare other subs in this price range and above then listen to the 315. No one else gives you this performance at this price level. Deep, loud, and clear bass you can feel.

Strengths: Powerful, good price for money, looks nice.
Weaknesses: none really.
Summary: It may be just me but I cant tell the difference when i change the phase from "norm" or "rev". I dont know what it does though. I like the high cut adjuster, sews the gap of low frequencies with my other surround speakers nicely. AWESOME when the THX part comes up in movies!!! nice frequency range that goes to the limit of human hearing. A must have for a good, full audio experience.

Strengths: Adds floor-shaking bass tones to music and especially to DVD's
Weaknesses: Doesn't shake floors in other rooms. Manual does not specify what kind of cable would be best for hook-up. Refers to "pin cable", which I assumed is RCA.
Summary: I've enjoyed owning this subwoofer. It adds a bottom end to the soundtrack on DVD's and on CD's. It's a relatively inexpensive addition to my Yamaha RX-V2500 surround sound receiver and I got it for 40% of the price that I saw most subwoofers in the store.-

Strengths: Powerful (250 W), no distortion and deep bass. Good price
Weaknesses: It is hard to find any weaknesses.
Summary: It is just what I was looking for and I'm really satisfied with this product. If you are looking for a subwoofer with high performance and a fair price as I was, this will definitely suit you.

Strengths: Thunderous Bass, Switch for whether you're playing Music or Movies and it looks great too.
Weaknesses: None that I can tell.
Summary: Recently purchased my second Yamaha YST-SW315. I've owned the 1st one for 3 years and when a 2nd smaller subwoofer I had broke, I immediately purchased another Yamaha. I now have one on both sides of the couch. It's like an EARTHQUAKE!! Highly recommend this sub for performance and Value.

Strengths: Exceptional clarity, features, and packaging. This is an awsome sub, even compared to subs costing 4-5 times as much. I have had a number of different subs and can attest to its performance for medium
Weaknesses: None, unless you want a direct input n input that bypasses the high-cut filter altogether.
Summary: If you are looking for high-end performance and want to maximize your investment, this is the sub for you. This is ideal for medium-to-large sized rooms, has exceoptional clarity, and is relatively inexpensive.

Strengths: Really low, strong bass when playing music
Weaknesses: none yet
Summary: This is a really good sub for the price. You will have to move it around the room to find the best location for the best sound. I was a little confused at first on how to set the switches (there are 3) to make the stand by feature activate correctly. I had to read the instructions a couple of times, now that I have them set in the right position, the stand by feature works great! No problems with the sub coming on when there is no signal. I would highly recommend this sub!
