Good software. Weaknesses: More expensive than most CD burners. Summary: I have a number of CD+G discs for my karaoke machine. The Pioneer DVD/CD burner and the HP CD burner I've had would not allow me to burn my CD+G's for back-up or to make custom compilations. Now I can and I am very happy with this Plextor. It is more pricey than some of the others, but Plextor definitely has a solid reputation. Weaknesses: Lacks some of the features (GigaRec, SecuRec) of Plextor's premium writer, but these are of minor consideration for most purposes. Summary: This drive is a replacement for a Yamaha that quit on me and honestly never worked as well as I would have liked anyway. This is my 3rd Plextor drive (one other CD-RW and a DVD+RW) and I have been very happy with Plextor's performance. Installation was a snap with no configuration issues- it is recommended that this drive be installed as a master on it's own IDE cable. This drive is a bit pricier than other brands, but if you do a search at Newegg you can find it in an OEM bulk pack configuration for considerably less (about 46.00 with shipping) than the retail box version. I do imagine this will be one of the last CD-RWs that Plextor produces as they will probably focus more on their excellent DVD+RW line. 100% of People (3/3) found this review helpful. Strengths: Very Fast burning, faster then most drives. Also One of the quieitest Weaknesses: More expensive than other drives. Summary: This is my second Plextor and I'm ercomending it to anyone who burns 1000+ cd's per year. Its fast quiet and reliable. I've alerady bruned 100 cd's with it and not one has failed. It fas integrated software (powerec, etc.) to modify drive settigns which can be very handy, but personaly I don't like because it slows down your writing if teh media you're writing to is not that good. Weaknesses: Takes a little while for the drive to get up to speed. Summary: This is the fast drive that I have ever experienced. this drive has lived up to the performance reviews that I have read. Extracts music with no errors and very quickly. It seems to take a little while for the drive to get up to speed to start reading data, but I guess that is to be expected of a drive that has such a high speed rating. Strengths: Burns any and everything, quite and never had a problem with it. Weaknesses: None Summary: I have purchased many Plextor products in the past and they have never let me down. I purchased my Plextor 52/24/52A over a year ago and it has burned over one thousand CDs and still has plenty of life in it.
