1 Star ReviewLow Quality - Terrible Service
Strengths: Nice picture - until monitor died at 6 months old
Weaknesses: Warranty service sucks BAD.
Summary: KDS would not send an advance replacement monitor unless I gave them my original sales receipt. They knew by the serial number that the monitor was only 6 months old. When I finally found the original receipt and called them back, I sat on hold OVER 3 HOURS!! This is my third (and last) KDS monitor. All have had problems (2 died after about 18 months - just outside of warranty period). Don't be suckered in by the low price (like I was) - DO NOT BUY KDS monitors. You will eventually regret it.

1 Star ReviewKDS 19" monitor died after about a year
Strengths: cheap
Weaknesses: cheap
Summary: My KDS 19" has exact same problem as reported by melawson:

"Screen goes black after monitor has been on for about 30 minutes. Recycling power button (on/off switch), screen comes on for about 5 to 10 seconds then goes black. After monitor has been off for a while, when turned on, screen comes on, then goes black after 30 minutes."

This is 2nd KDS that died after 1st one was exchanged within the return period due to display problems. Needless to say you get what you pay for.

1 Star ReviewKDS model K917s power cable problem
Strengths: Good Picture, nice and bright
Weaknesses: The power cable falls out of it's socket on back of monitor
Summary: There is a flaw in the design or manufacture of the power cable or the socket into which it should fit. But it's so loose that it simply falls out. It is not possible to push it up & in farther. Maybe trimming off some rubber would help. Harold Allen

Strengths: Price is great. The contrast of the monitor is excellent
Weaknesses: none so far
Summary: This is a nice low priced 19 inch flat pannel. I have been very happy with this monitor so far and feel it is an excellent replacement for my CRT 19 inch monitor that took up so much space.

Strengths: great resolution easy hook up Windows XP automatically set it up No dead pixels No bleading from edges
Weaknesses: Analog, not digital, no dvi connection Stand only allows slight tilt back and forth No swivel horizontal only, no vertical stand short video and power cords, probably 5', not standard 6'
Summary: For the price, this is a great monitor. It is lightweight, has a very good resolution, easy setup, and most importantly to me, there were no dead pixels. The quality of the picture seems to me to be as good as the Dell 1905FP that I also have.

Strengths: Excellent resolutons. No dead pixels.
Weaknesses: no DVI
Summary: I have KDS 19" CRT monitor and would be replacing with this LCD. I don't play games so do not want to spend lot of money on other LCD. I'm impressed with the performance so far.

1 Star ReviewPoor life.
Strengths: As good as any while it worked.
Weaknesses: They don't last.
Summary: Like bradthompson1003 whose monitors died in 18 months (outside warranty after 12), mine did too. It takes 30+ min to start now and is progressively getting worse. They said, they charged $100 for repair and I had to ship it too ($200 when I bought it). At that price, I can now buy a new monitor. I bought it only because of the cheap price at that time and in retrospect was not worth the price at all. Will NEVER buy KDS again.

Strengths: nice looks, beautiful picture
Weaknesses: none so far
Summary: I just purchased this monitor, took less than 5 minutes to set up and put in use. It looks great, the picture is sharp. It was on sale at Office Depot, and with a 100 rebate, it cost only 200. What a bargain.

Strengths: Large display, great price
Weaknesses: Not a popular brand
Summary: I just purchased the KDS 19" LCD. It's probably not comparable to Samsung or NEC, however, it's a great display if the price is right. Office Depot has it on sale every so often. There's no DVI so if you need DVI, this probably won't work for you. KDS has a very decent warranty program - I've had to use it for my 15" LCD many years ago. The 19" is so far so good.

Strengths: Ease of installation; sharp video image; great color; BIG, easy to read size!
Weaknesses: none found yet.
Summary: This monitor couldn't be easier to setup and use. The power and adjustment buttons are easy to find and use, but not in the way. It is ultra-thin and lightweight, easy to unbox and set up within 2 minutes. Running on a machine with Windows XP, it was accurately discovered by the OS, the correct drivers installed and projecting beautiful images literally in minutes. I have found no shortcomings yet, but if the install is any indication of how it will go, I doubt I'll find any.

3 Star ReviewVery Average
Strengths: looks good
Weaknesses: No Dvi, no extras like speakers, etc.
Summary: I'm not sure where to begin so I'll start with saying this is a very outdated lcd. It only has a D-sub interface when you should be looking for a DVI or at least a combination of dvi,d-sub. So for the retail price it's very expensive.

I bought this when there were rebates making this effective around 200 dollars and even then I would say it's only slightly attractive versus other brands.

The response time of 16ms is very long. It should be at least 12ms but than not everyone will use it for games. If you plan to use this for regular internet surfing than it does everything it needs to do. There's very little backlight problem and I received one with zero dead pixels.

They advertise 1 year advance service with no mention of 3 year warrenty but it's on their website. The box says it's ultra thin which at first glance it might be due to it's silver outline. However if you measure the curved back it's not much smaller than my dell 2005fpw. There is only a 30 percent tilt supposely up/down but no right and left but it seems like it's not much difference. It's not very adjustable but the construction seems very solid.

Buy as a first lcd if you can get it around 200 but spend a little extra if you have a new computer with dvi.

Strengths: Big size, cheap price, sharp image
Weaknesses: poor viewing angle and tilt angle
Summary: This monitor is a good starter monitor if you wanna upgrade from CRT monitor. It's cheap, it's big, and it provides with acceptable image quality. However for its price don't expect more than what you paid for it. It's viewing angle is poor at only +- 70, tilt angle can be more flexible, and it only has analog connector. All in all a good monitor for its price.
