3 Star ReviewGood game - maybe
Strengths: -Soundtrack has some good music -Environments are interactive
Weaknesses: -Gameplay is kinda blah -Graphics leave much to be desired
Summary: First, let me say I am NOT a big wrestling fan. You won't find me playing Smackdown with my friends. However, seeing this game in the budget bin was tempting, and obviously i went for it.

When playing this game, you have to leave expectations behind. This is not a well-thought out playing experience. It is plain beat em up, knock some teeth out wrestling.

Along with some good music to go along with, its a fun game to get some friends together and yell at each other as you hit one another with a 2x4.

Don't spend too much on this one.

1 Star ReviewA awesome concept horribaly executed.
Strengths: Cool Idea
Weaknesses: Everything
Summary: This game has a very cool premise in wrestling in numerous locations with interactive environments. That is the only good thing about this game. The graphics, sound and exspecially the gameplay are all horible. Avoid.

3 Star ReviewBackyard Wrestling: Don't Try This At Home
Strengths: You can create wild looking characters. You can kill your opponent in many crazy ways. I liked some of the taunts some of the characters give.
Weaknesses: I think that there should be more unique moves for any one character.
Summary: Backyard Wrestling: Don't Try This At Home was a game that any person will love and enjoy in my humble opinion. The humorous rantings of certain characters that I have played gave me a good 3 hours of a good time. I discovered that online play was an option that would make this game better, however. No matter, you could not ask for a more entertaining game that is as intriguing as the music score. I recommend that people buy this game because it is hilarious each time I play it and very interactive!

2 Star ReviewBackyard Wresting tries to do something different ...
Strengths: Unique no-holds-barred fighting/wrestling hybrid, blood and sexuality you won't find in WWE games, heart-pounding soundtrack featuring plenty of thrash bands, a sequel has already come out
Weaknesses: Loose control, bland graphics, lousy AI, poor collision detection, uninspired gameplay, minimal replay value and unlockables, unpopular license, not complex enough for wrestling fans
Summary: Backyard Wresting tries to do something different and unique by offering the ability to use weapons against your opponent in "real world" backyard environments instead of inside a ring. The soundtrack is fairly impressive if you're a fan of thrash bands as well.

Unfortunately, the wrestlers themselves aren't well known to most genre fans (much less casual gamers), and the gameplay is weak all-around. The characters don't animate, fight or wrestle very well on screen, so most hardcore and casual wrestling fans will be turned off almost immediately.

For a budget price, you may want to give this title a shot if you're a big wrestling/fighting fan. However, you will regret this purchase if you spend more than $10 on it. You have to appreciate this game for what it is (a cheap thrill), and paying too much for what you're getting will definitely reduce your enjoyment of it.

2 Star ReviewIf you're not a fan of backyard wrestling then the ...
Strengths: + level of interactivity in the environments + music
Weaknesses: - the create a player is not good - license
Summary: If you're not a fan of backyard wrestling then there's no need to pick up this game.

The music is good; songs by actual bands. The fighting system is simpler than other wrestling games so that can be a plus or a minus, depending on your skill level. The best part of this game is that the fights don't take place in a ring like all wrestling games. You can pick up objects and use them to attack.

The biggest weakness I think is the roster, but that is mostly because of the license. I mean most people won't know who these people are and I don't know many who would like to play as the Insane Clown Posse. But if you're a fan then you won't have a problem.

Strengths: None, Really...None
Weaknesses: Everything...Honestly
Summary: This game is pretty bad. The controls just don't work well with each other at all. The graphics are Alright I guess, but the gameplay is just HORRIBLE. I would steer clear of this one and save your $5.00 for some other game.

Strengths: + Tries to be different
Weaknesses: - Failed experiment - Gameplay
Summary: The only positive thing about this game is its soundtrack. It features audio from the likes of Andrew WK, Rancid, the Dropkick Murphys, Masters of Illusion, CKY, Chimaira, Further Seems Forever, Sum 41, American Hi-Fi, The Rise, Machine Head, Biohazard, Anthrax, Sepultura...

Other than the audio there is nothing stunning nor worth mentioning. The gameplay is crap, and will not interest the avid gamer, let alone the avg. gamer.

The game was a nice try for eidos, but alas it is quite a failure.
