Strengths: Very fast! Easy to work on/install cards, RAM etc.
Weaknesses: No weaknesses to speak of. Some complain about the price, but honestly, you get what you pay for with this machine. Excellent deal!
Summary: 2006-07-11 13:41:07 Yes, I used to be a Windows user for several years and built my own system a number of times. After purchasing a new iMac for my wife and having so many problems with every one of my PCs, I decided to go with a real computer. That is why I purchased a PowerMac G5 Dual 2.3. I've NEVER been happier or more productive with ANY other computer. It takes whatever I can give it and it performs flawlessly. Tiger OS X is the best OS to date with a ton of awesome software that ships with it. I have purchased an extra 2 gigs of RAM, a second 250 GB drive and upgraded the video card. It runs extremely quiet as well. The only software I chose to add to this beautifully crafted machine is Photoshop CS and Final Cut HD. The only other piece of software I will be purchasing is Logic. This is the perfect workstation for anyone who wishes to be creative. PCs don't even come close to the PowerMac G5's power, elegance and ease of use. Every programme works flawlessly with eachother and crashes and viruses are non-existant. Apple has come a LONG way in just the past 5 years. I will NEVER go back to a PC. EVER!! My PowerMac G5 Dual may have cost a chunk of cash ($3600 in it's current configuration) but it has been worth every penny! If you've got the means to afford one of these powerhouses, I highly recommend it. I've read many reviews from people who made the switch to Apple and some give them horrible reviews. I know why that is; they are unfamiliar with the OS and they don't bother to read. It's not rocket science, but this machine can handle that too, if you wish. Microsoft will ALWAYS be behind the times and play catch-up to everything Apple puts out. It's a fact. Vista is a blatant copy of Tiger and is evidence to the fact that Microsoft can't come up with their OWN ideas. They have to resort to stealing.
Apple will only be getting better and better over time and when the new PowerMacs come out (whatever they might be called at the time) I'll be purchasing one of those as well. Nothing can compare to the piece of mind you get when getting behind the wheel of a PowerMac G5 Dual. I actually look forward to intensive work with my PowerMac. I'm not happy when I have to stop working. It has been the best computing experience I have ever had. I never worry whether or not my data is going to get corrupted, lost, or infected. I never have to worry about whether or not my programmes are going to crash or my files disappear. Make your life easier and more creative; buy a Mac. You won't regret it (unless you're a fool). You really CAN do everything out-of-the-box. Within 5 mins, you can be up and running. No joke. Try that with a new PC. Can you buy a new Dell and be able to edit hi-definition video, stream music to your stereo, create high quality music of your own, edit photos, create a blog or podcast, a web page, anything at all, straight out of the box with the existing software that shipped with your new PC??? I don't think so. Macs aren't all that expensive when you think about it. They just work! Honestly, you can't buy a Honda (PC) and get Ferrari performance. The quality of the components in a Mac, from the elegant aluminum case to the powercable, is far beyond what you'd get with anything else. Regardless of what anyone else thinks or says, I am glad I made the switch to a PowerMac G5. It just made sense. I have not had one headace with this machine. It does what I want, when I want. It's that simple. I compose music, edit hi-res photos and edit hi-definition video with this machine and it has NEVER EVER failed to perform beyond my expectations. It accomplishes all of those tasks with ease. If you're a gamer, this might not be your thing, but who wants to just play games all the time?? I'd rather be creating my OWN masterpieces!
Bottom line is; get a Mac. You're life will be much easier. I know mine is.
