Strengths: Fast slicing/shredding; easy clean-up; no worrying over accidentally slicing/cutting your hand as you would with a regular mandolin or manual slicer.
Weaknesses: A bit messy - splatters/flings; vegetables get caught between the slicing/shredding drum and the plastic housing; white plastic housing stains easily.
Summary: The slider/shredder works great with firm vegetables and fruits such as cucumbers, carrots, apples, etc. When I manually sliced vegetables/fruits with a knife or by using the mandolin/manual slicer, it would take quite a while as I didn't want to get cuts on my hands. This attachments cuts more than half the time! So far, I've gotten some even slices, but rather large "end" bits tend to get caught between the white plastic housing and the slicing/shredding drums. I would have preferred that the housing be made of stainless steel, rather than plastic as I am concerned that with time, it might crack or turn yellow/stain. Clean up is quite easy, but if you slice/shred carrots, you'll have to use a paper napkin/towel to wipe off the stains with a few drops of oil before washing it with soap or the stains won't come off.

2 Star ReviewNot very much impressed
Strengths: Good shredder, especially for cheeze
Weaknesses: lousy slicer, hard to clean and disassembly.
Summary: It's is great idea to be able to use my Kitchenaid mixer for shredding and slicing instead of buying a separate food processor. The quality of this product is good and keep up to the Kitchenaid standard. However it comes with some weaknesses that need improvements. If you are a cheese lover you will love this product as it shreds cheese well.

Strengths: Easy to connect and in-connect to the mixer; quick
Weaknesses: hard to clean after shred carrot
Summary: We got the mixer two month ago and did not use it a lot. We also got the grinder but did not use it a lot, either. I have to prepare baby food for my baby. This attachment is really a time saver. In 3 mins, I shred all baby carrot from costco package.

If you have the mixer and like to eat vegetable. This will be a good buy. However, it's hard to clean after shred carrot.
