Strengths: Great sound quality.
Weaknesses: Lots of wires, DVD/CD changer obsolete
Summary: This is a great system for people with limited budget. It has all you actually need: the great sound quality. It doesn't seem to be as powerful as a 1000W system should be but it provides enough sound for 60 inch HDTV in my living room.

There are two optical connections and I use them to connect the system to my HDTV and my 6 year old Sony music CD changer. the sound is great! It is too bad that there are only two optcal connections.

The system comes with a Sony DVD changer, not a bad one but I prefer a system without a DVD player. Not only this DVD player doesn't meet the requirement for high resolution HDTV, but in my opinion, DVD players normally have shorter life cycle than sound systems. The good thing is that this DVD changer is not integrated into the receiver.

Also, wiring is a big headache, particularly for the rear speaker.

Overall, I am very satisfied with the system. It is definitely a great buy.

Strengths: Clear sound, good style, ground shaking bass, Music very loud
Weaknesses: Some Dvd's play very low, Takes some time for your settings-very important!, sometimes sound gets cracky if too loud
Summary: Ive had this system for 2 months now and its done pretty good. I had higher expectations for it being "1000" watts, my uncle's system is 6 yrs old and it feels and sounds a lot louder. Where you keep it is also important, i have mine in a big living room so a lot of sound escapes. But it sounds great in a enclosed room.

Saving Private ryan is awesome, it feels like your in the movie. For some reason i played Star Wars episode 1 and i almost had to put it to max sound level in order for a good loudness. That happens a lot with Dvd's, I have to put it really high in order for it to sound like the theatre. Music on the other hand is excellent, put it on "multi st." and it sounds awesome. sometimes though ive played music to see how loud it really gets and then the sound gets cracky. But on a little more than halfway volume, its perfect.

Never use there music equalizers, un less your into that, it makes the sound not very pleasant.

One mistake i made at the beginning was not doing the settings, what level, distance, etc. you want your speakers. it depends on where youre system is, but it makes a big difference. Setting the whole system up wasnt that bad, it took about 20 min. or so after i got everything out of the box.

The cables, of course, are the cheapest thing that sony can get there hands on. If you really dont give a damn, like me, youll keep them, there not that bad. if you really need excellent sound and video, just get another system. The only upgrade i have are monster video cables and a digital optical cable.

Overall its not that bad. If you want 6.1 surround sound, this is it.

p.s. Make sure you buy or have the cables to connect it to your t.v. or cable box. because all it does is connect it to itself.

Strengths: Nice design. Great sound range. Subwoofer kicks and SR does the rest! Easy hookup and installation.
Weaknesses: No S video output. DVD/CD disc carousel kinda slow in switching discs and powering on. Can't step through radio stations...
Summary: Overall it's worth the price. I'd been playing my iPod through some crappy computer speakers for a year and decided to take the plunge. Hooked it up as the SA/CD input and it is literally music to my ears.

The DVD player is a bit deep..but what can you expect from a 5 disc carousel. Subwoofer is a bit heavy but it kicks. Hooking up speakers in back was simple with the design of the input jacks.

Remote is very intuitive and controls everything!
