Strengths: Quiet and efficient power supply
Weaknesses: None
Summary: Good power supply over all. Quiet and efficient. Supply steady power to support Pentium 4 3.2ghz. Convenience with selection of output ports for use. Keep clear of unnecessary loose wire.

Strengths: Works w/o any problems. Total 500 Watts of power! Seems quiet enough. Designed to work well with most cases (fans at front and back, not on top).
Weaknesses: Cables bit too long. Would be nice to have little more molex connectors. Too many connector cables compare to the plug-outlet, but I guess not many would use all the cables.
Summary: 2005-07-11 20:14:36 Overall, it seems like a pretty good PS. I was going to use the PS that came w/ the case and people made me worry. W/ this PS, I am worry-free. Its rear fan is blowing out the hot air well and my system has been up for 2 days straight and I had not noticed any problems.

Strengths: Low noise. Low clutter.
Weaknesses: none yet
Summary: I bought this power supply to replace an older one that burned out. I decided on 500W so I could upgrade to better graphics cards or SLI/Crossfire. The removable plugs are a very nice feature that reduce the clutter inside the computer case to a more manageable mess. The 24/20-pin combo is a nice touch, if I want to upgrade to a 24-pin motherboard. Just detach the extra 4-pins (not to be confused with the other 4-pin +12V motherboard connector.) No complaints at all.

Strengths: Quiet, stable power supply. Atx 2.0 compliant
Weaknesses: Nothing significant
Summary: Antec is well-known for great power supplies. I found this on sale for $50. Great to have modular design and ATX12V 24-pin setup. Highly recommended.

Strengths: Dual fans, cool and quiet, 500 watt, modular cable design.
Weaknesses: Not many different lengths of cables to use. Mobo cable bundle longer than it needs to be, gets in the way
Summary: 2005-06-18 20:03:47 This was the cheapest 500 watt power supply I could find (around $70) and it happend to have a modular cable design so that was good. Only problems with it are that the main mobo cable is huge and very hard to manage. I had to tie it inside an empty drive bay to get it out of the way, and that there are not enogh different lengths of cables (the shortest is 70cm long), very annoying if you have a short connection.

Strengths: Power output Quiet Modular connectors
Weaknesses: None yet
Summary: Antec's SmartPower 2.0 500W power supply is built well, provides stable power output, and quiet to boot.

The power supply is compatible with 24-pin ATX 2.0 and 20-pin ATX 1.0 motherboards - unlike other PSUs that use an odd 24-20 pin adapter, Antec simply allows the extra 4 pins to be detached from the motherboard power connector.

The modular design, where power connectors are plugged into receptacles on the PSU, keeps the inside of your case neat instead of forcing you to stow extra cables in random nooks and crannies.

The power supply is also extremely quiet. The inside fan is always on but very quiet; the external fan, which matters more for perceived noise, is temperature controlled.

Strengths: modular design works great in my smallish Dell case
Weaknesses: larger than necessary mobo cable(not a big deal though)
Summary: Initially I was worried about it being compatible with a Dell case, but my fears were aleviated thanks to the modular design.I just bought a geforce 6800gt and I upgraded my psu from 350 to 500.So much better than older designs where unnecessary cables are trapped in the case.Extremely satisfied.

Strengths: Enough juice to power demanding hardware
Weaknesses: Doesn't include all the cables it says
Summary: My stock power supply was not enough to power my Geforce 6800gt and all my fans and burners etc, so I got this because of the power rating and the quality Antec name. I have been using it for about a month now and I have had no power problems. This was just what I needed and at a cheap price. I would definetly buy again. The only downside is that it the Geforce requires 2 molex connectors and I have a burner and some fans, and this power supply didn't include enough of the modular cables so that I could use two *different* power connectors on my video card. You can buy aftermarket modular cables though.

Strengths: Quiet fans, modular cable design
Weaknesses: None
Summary: I'm fairly obsessive about PC noise. I decided to pick up this power supply based on the recommendations at silentpcreview.com and I wasn't disappointed. The noise is low and the modular cable design really helps keep the clutter out of my case. I'm really glad I picked this up.

Strengths: stable, powerful
Weaknesses: NA

1 Star ReviewGood PSU lowsy fans
Strengths: Plenty of power, nice plug in cable you want to use to minimize excess cabling in your case.
Weaknesses: Intake fans are very loud (over 80dB) and have problems maintaining minimal operating speeds (typically whine loudly and spin at only about 1200 rpm - very bad)
Summary: I contacted Antec on this fan problem. They are having a lot of problems in both their TruePower and SmartPower series with fans not functionaling properly. Unfortunately, a power supply with a potentially suspect fan is a major risk. The PSU will overheat and then produce severely errant voltages frying your MoBo, CPU, and drives. As this is the only company that I have trusted over the last 15 years, I don't even know what company to go to for a stable trustworthy power supply. After all Antec was king!

1 Star ReviewLooks like a good psu, just cant get the sucker working.
Strengths: smells good when getting out of packaging :)
Weaknesses: Doesnt work.
Summary: I think iv stumbled across the only Antec in the world that doesnt work (the way im setting it up anyway). Was wondering if any of you guys could tell me where im going wrong. Built new system (Abit AW8-max 3rd eye 2, PD 3.0 ghz, 2 gb ram, this psu, XFX 6600 gt g.card. When i had built the system and switched it on, it powered up for about 5 seconds then all i got was 2 beeps and everything shut down. The digital dispaly on mobo was showing 8.3. (read manual, and this sais power supply ready). After contacting company i purchased mobo from, they told me to test with another power supply. So i used my old one (standard 250 watt, came with crappy pre built pc 3 years ago). This seems to work (for now, gets a bit hot in there though) with 20 pin connecter fitted in to motherboard 24 pin connecter. Also tried new power supply in old pc and it worked. Antec tell me theres no compatibility issues with there psu's and abit boards, abit tell me the same. So im stuck, dont know which part is stuffed or what im doing wrong. Any help would be massively appriciated, cheers.

Strengths: 480w of power, detachable cables, and antec quality
Weaknesses: only 180w of combined 3.3v and 5v rails.
Summary: when upgrading my nephew's computer i was so

suprised to see that it had a generic psu with only

295w. so i immediately knew a more powerful and

higher quality psu needed to be installed to prevent

any problems although none luckily ever did. with a

antec sp500 smartpower 2.0 now installed i have

peace of mind knowing my nephew's computer psu

is both powerful(480w) and high quality in which all

antec psu's are. i'm sold on antec psu's.

Strengths: Quiet, great rails Modular design is excellent, but could be better Antec reliability
Weaknesses: Somewhat pricy
Summary: I like Antec, in fact I use them in all three of my computers. I decided to upgrade my regular 350W Antec to this one for more power and hopefully for quieter operation since this one comes with a fan control. I am sure it will work even better than my old one and my old one worked flawlessly.

Strengths: Quiet, VERY easy setup and it has everything
Weaknesses: NONE
Summary: This PSU is great it was easy to install with the modular connection (took me about 10 minutes to set everything up), it is very quiet and it was a GREAT deal for the price. Very reasonable price for a 500W PSU.
