 We just had our first baby and we wanted a camcord ... Strengths: Great video in low light (if backlighting selected). Reduces shake well. Good auto focus. Easy to operate.
Quick review of scenes shot. Easy to share with family.
Good sound quality.
Weaknesses: DVD-R disc did not play on my DVD player - had to go out and buy a new DVD player to play them back.
Editing - need good PC (2Ghz, 512 Mb memory, 30Gb hd, DVD recording capability)
Summary: We just had our first baby and we wanted a camcorder to capture the childs first years. I have been very pleased with it so far. We don't use a quater of its features - I put in a DVD-R disc - shoot on 'fine' quality mode for half an hour, finalise the disc and stick it into the DVD player and we all can watch the scenes and skip through the ones we are getting bored with.
The strength of this camcorder lies in using the DVD-Ram discs. This requires having a good PC and time to Edit the recordings and burn DVDs from various scenes.
So for the purpose for which it was bought it is doing fine.
