The Panasonic DVD-F65K is a good player at a good ...
Strengths: Thin profile, very sleek, plays a wide variety of formats, preferences to save certain settings are useful, good instruction manual.
Weaknesses: Sometimes won't recognize disk. Problem solved by moving disk to new slot, takes too long to recognize disks, slow at changing disks, not intuitive, needed manual to debug, cryptic on-screen menus.
Summary: The Panasonic DVD-F65K is a good player at a good price. It looks sharp and suits my needs. Though it is not outstanding. The versatility on this model is exceptional, which is why I think it takes so long to recognize new disks. It seems to scan each disk for about 10 seconds before playing it. I have had a little bit of trouble reading disks that my other player has no problems reading. If I swap disk positions it seems to play fine, but it will never play in the slot where it originally failed the scan. Apparently it keeps memory that profiles the disk and it will not release the profile until the disk is removed and replaced. I found the unit a little hard to learn. There are a few special functions that are somewhat useful but can make the player behave oddly or not play certain formats at all until the mode is changed. The disks also seem to change very slowly compared to my last player. With all of its minor faults it still seems to play acceptably. I do not regret the purchase, but my expectations were not entirely met.
