Strengths: The sound is great for the price. The silver speakers and unit are quite stylish and will go with any decor.
Weaknesses: cannot play RCE protected dvd's
Summary: I returned this system simply because it could not play any of the new RCE protected dvd's. Could not play my originals like Sixth sense, Frequency, Save the last dance, and Ice Age. Although the player says it's a region 1, it's also a region "ALL" and the new RCE protection apparently view "ALL" as something other than Region 1. I carried my region 1 RCE protected dvd's to the store and it could not play on any of the SCHT900 players there. I tried explaining the RCE protection, but no-one knew anything about RCE, and was asking if I bought those dvd's in China or Europe. Duh!!! It has a big globe with a "1" on them. Anyway, I emailed Panasonic who suggested I carry the system to a Panasonic dealer. I returned the system, and am still looking for a good HTS.

1 Star ReviewI had the system for 3 1/2 months when I bought a ...
Strengths: The Sound is great, easy to set up.
Weaknesses: Very poor product support should you experience problems.
Summary: I had the system for 3 1/2 months when I bought a new HDTV and noticed a Faint Green Band that would move up the screen when playing DVD's. I took it to a Panasonic Service center (55 miles from my home) and it has been there for almost 3 months. They tried for 2 months to repair the unit, their service rep sending parts to the repair center that never eliminated the problem. Finally, after 8 weeks the Panasonic rep. admitted defeat and decided to replace it. Another 3 weeks have passed and I have no idea when the replacement will arrive. When I call thefor information the representatives tell me that this is a "normal" time frame to repair their products. I have been unable to contact anyone that can expedite the situation. They just keep saying that one service rep has total control over what to attempt next and that I can't talk to that individual, who quite clearly has no clue as to how to repair my system. I am glad that Panasonic does not manufacture cars or I'd have been walking for months.

In the meantime I purchased a Sony System that works great so that my family can view DVD's. I will never purchase another Panasonic product, not even a battery.

Strengths: Excellent style and sound for the money!
Weaknesses: The "sound schemes" seem somewhat limited. The remote is not terribly intuitive.
Summary: Although I do not have an audiophile's ear, I think this system sounds wonderful with Dolby Digital DVD's. The progressive scan DVD player looks great and the 5 DVD capacity is actually kind of nice! The styling is great and the provided speaker stands are a real plus. A great system at twice the price!

Strengths: Overall very very strong for your entertainment room. Great subwoofer and center speaker. Nice and stylish look!!! Better than SONY DAV-FC8 and SONY DAV-FC9.
Weaknesses: NONE
Summary: I feel I bought the most stylish and excellent sound quality home theatre system!! Very good overall performance. I could not wait from the time I ordered it. As soon as I got it I just set it up and tried it with one of my MP3 CD and it did well. But I didn't notice anything different. So, then I palyed "LORD OF THE RINGS - THE TWO TOWERS" and it really amazed me!!! EXCELLENT performance....Subwoofer, center speaker, sorround speakers....each component of this system is wonderful!! For $400.00 ...GO GET IT!!! ( before it disappears!!!???)

Strengths: Everything you need in one box. Crystal clear, bright audio. Slim, sexy design.
Weaknesses: No component or s-video IN, on the receiver. No bass or treble controls. For the price though, couldn't expect everything.
Summary: This is one very, very nice HT in a box. Have been around many systems and this stands up to the best, regardless of price. Throw the price tags away, and there still isn't many setups could compare to this all in one package deal. I am in no way affiliated w/ panasonic, but together with my panasonic hi-fi VCR and TV it sounds SWEET, and I still only need one remote. I would like to have seen another component in and maybe an s-video in as well as another optical input for my xbox, (using the one fiber optic for cable right now) but what the heck can I expect for less than 400 dollars. I've seen this in certain local stores AND online for as much as 600 dollars. I paid $399 shipped fedex, ordered it on a holiday day monday night, and had it that thursday. NEWEGG ROCKS.

Strengths: Excellent sound, very stylish. Plays every DVD (burned or bought) and every MP3 CD I've tried. Great quality component video, too!
Weaknesses: A bit complex, non-intuitive remote. Few options for playing regular TV in surround.
Summary: I bought this system because the price was excellent and the speakers looked cool. What I got was a really fantastic sound system with excellent surround and a wonderful subwoofer and middle speaker. It's a little hard to get standard stereo TV to play in the surround speakers and the remote takes some getting used to, but I figured it out eventually and I absolutely love the 5-disc changer. It's perfect for those multi-disc movies such as LOTR or put in 5 CD's and set it to "All-Disc" to hear hours of music in random order.
