Strengths: Great Battery life, LCD and Jog dial make finding songs easy in every format (ATRAC/MP3/CD), best sound I've heard in a portable device, ATRAC format, G-Protection, Good looks and feel.
Weaknesses: The volume button placement could be better and typical sony software crashes often.
Summary: I got this cd player mainly for its mp3 capabilities, however after trying the ATRAC format I think I will be using its a lot. I fit 360 songs/23+ hours of music on a single cd using the ATRAC format. All the songs were converted mp3’s and the sound was still good. Also, using the ATRAC format the CD only needs to spin for about 30 seconds to load the song. Once the song is loaded, it finishes playing without the cd spinning, which consequently saves battery life. I used this player for about 35 hours before changing batteries using all of the different formats. The only downside to the ATRAC is that the sony software that comes with is not very stable and crashes my system a lot. This is typical of sony software and I expected it (kinda sad I guess). The only issue I had with the player itself was the placement of the volume button. I wish they had placed it on the top with all the other buttons instead of the side, but that’s just a personal preference. Other than that everything worked well. I can’t compare it to other mp3 cd players because this is the first one I’ve had experience with, but as far I’m concerned its very good. Anyways I must say I’m very pleased with this portable. I thought it would be good, but it defiantly exceeded my expectations.
