EQ-106 Not for a whole lot of wind
Strengths: Looks good, fit well over mic, light weight, not cheaply made
Weaknesses: Not enough dead air space between mic and windscreen to be very effective in more than a 15 MPH wind
Summary: I tested this windscreen in the field and around the yard, and certainly gave it a fair chance. The EQ windscreen, as explained to me by the nice people at Lightwave, is a compromise for a more slender design to better fit on a video camera mic. Don't expect it to handle more wind than a stiff breeze. I will be getting the fatter, longer haired and proven Rycote Softie as my next windscreen...for $10 less than the EQ retails for, new.
The other options for windscreens from Lightwave Audio, like the miniscreen with optional fur covers, look interesting. I hope someone will review them.
