Strengths: Great Video Quality
Small Size and Light weight
Two remotes in package !
can take stills on SD/MMC Card
Weaknesses: still quality not as good as dedicated still camera
Placement of switch to change from tape to memcard is awkward
Electronic image stabilization a little weak.
Summary: Overall I love this cam. It cannot be beat by any existing cams for less than $1200 and considdering I got mine fore $738 from abes of maine its excellent.
If your budget will go higher, try the pvdv953 or wait for a possible PV-GS100 with 3mp later this year.

Strengths: Great picture.
Superb feel and comfortability.
Long long battery life.
Great color separation.
Nice and compact.
Very easy to use.
Motor noise inaudible even in quiet scenes.
Weaknesses: Stabilization is weak. This isn't all that bad, but it does shake at 10x.
Summary: Everyone keeps saying "Poor low light". It isn't bad at all. The reason everyone says this is that the AWB doesn't really work well in low light. However, by using the manual white balance, the color turns out much better.
As far as visibility, I think you actually see just as much as with the TRV22.
I really did wish it had night vision like the sony's... That is a really cool feature. Unfortunately though, you can't ahve everything.
For 650$ (what I paid for it), this camcorder annihilates the competition. Many people have to decide between this and the TRV 22/33, since they are the only comparable compact models. This I'd have to say is the superior camera.

 This camera worked for a grand total of 45 MINUTES ... Strengths: was nice the 45 minutes it worked
Weaknesses: not very good in low light, it only worked for 45 minutes.
Summary: 2003-08-12 09:59:35 This camera worked for a grand total of 45 MINUTES before having to be sent to the factory for service.
I sent it in for repair, but the ONLY US repair center didn't have the parts, and they are still waiting for them to come in from JAPAN. Brand new, and no replacement, I will receive a refurbished camera for a new camera price. This product was bought online from a merchant they claimed that it was a new product. And they have a 7 DAY return policy. If this is the truth, that this was a new product, then Panasonic has a product with extreme reliability problems.

Strengths: Color, size
Weaknesses: Durability, low-light shooting
Summary: The camcorder is very nice, especially the small size and all. However, you can't possibly record anything at night. I think that's a big flaw of this camcorder. Panasonic should've done something about that before they put this product on the market. Furthermore, you don't want to drop it--that's what I did. Now the color is all messed up and it's literally non-functional.

I used the camera outdoors in Europe on some misty ...
Strengths: Quality image in good light. Small, good point and shoot video digicam.
Weaknesses: Poor documentation for transferring video to computer. Terrible customer support.
Summary: I used the camera outdoors in Europe on some misty days. After returning and trying to turn on the camera, it was dead. Sent it into repair and it was returned un-repaired. I was told that there was water damage to the main board, it was un-repairable, and not covered by warranty. Total investment lost! The best they could offer was a new camera for more than what Beach Camera charges.

Strengths: great video (but not excellent almost like my old jvc), very portable, size, and the $650.00 that I paid for it
Weaknesses: bad low light images, the 3ccd suppossed to make a big improvement over regulars camcorders ,instead that lightly improvement
Summary: in low light situation, use the sima camcorder light and/or the manual WB in higher to get a better video,the still images are good, but only for web purposes.

Strengths: awesome awesome awesome cam, I think this is the begining of a new time for camcorders imagine a 3ccd in such a small package.
Weaknesses: waiting for the us version
